Sweetheart Tables??

MrsMac2be, 15 May, 2011 at 19:06 Posted on Planning 0 6

Is planning on having a Sweetheart Table?

O.M's - if you have had a Sweetheart Table did it work ok, any problems?

Im not too keen on having my Mum on a top table with us as, more often than not, she wears a "trippy" face

My CBM is my sister and she will want to sit with her partner as he wont know anyone there, which is fair enough and the same for my OH's BM and his partner..

My OH's parents are no longer with us either so even if Mum wasnt so grumpy the table wouldnt be "equal"...

So I approached the subject of Sweetheart Table with him tonight which he had not even heard of let alone considered but Im not sure which other way to take this seating plan??

Any ideas/suggestions?

I like the idea of a sweetheart table...

We didn't want a long top table, it's antisocial for those sitting on it. Our parents are both divorced with new partners with the exception of Mr C's mum. We decided to have my mum and dad and his mum and dad, their partners sat on other tables with family members. This worked for us as fortunately our parents are all still on pleasant speaking terms...

Do what works for you x

I like the sweetheart table too.

You could have it like a top table but jut have the other tables coming off it so that you are still facing all of your guests like this:

    Hi

I didn't have one, but my brother recently married an American and they are very common over there.

It is your wedding and I think you should do what you think works best. I think the only exception to this is I suppose when one or both sets of parents are hosting as I suppose they should be at the top table then.

    Hi KBS

sounds a brilliant way to sort out your seating! However i'm sure you are completely in love with your man, but just wondered if it would be abit flat just having the two of you all meal, while everyone else is chatting to each other??

    just a thought! x

Mr C only sat while he was actually eating, he was up and talking to other people in between courses so I barely got to speak to him anyway!

I would have joined him but the huge dress wedged under the table said no!!!

I suggested having one because I'm not overly keen on the top tables where everyone sits in a long line while all the guests sit at round tables chatting. He didn't really go for the idea because we're eloping anyway so have had our alone time after the wedding to chat etc.

So we're just another couple with a long line of parents on a top table....ho hum. As long as I get fed I couldn't care less to be honest!!
