Sweetie Tree Help Please!!

haylee81, 15 March, 2012 at 16:38 Posted on Planning 0 2

Right so I'm going to take the plunge and attempt it this weekend but I have a few questions if anyone can help.

1- I've heard it's best to use polystyrene, but I know a lot of people use Oasis balls??

2- Apart from cocktail sticks what can I use to stick sweets on, for instance If I was doing a maltesar one with no wrapper would they crumble?

3- How long do the sweets stay fresh for?

Hope someone can help as the internet guides confuse my already overloaded mind.

Thanks

Sweetie Trees what you will need..........

Bag of plaster of parisOasis ballApprox 5 bags of marshmellowsCocktail sticksRibbonWooden dowelTissue paperPlant pot

    How to make.......

Mix plaster of paris and fill plant pot 3/4 full. When its nearly set place wooden dowel in centre and hold in place. When its fully dry place oasis ball on top of dowe pushing through quite far (so sturdy) but not all way through. (you can add a bit of glue to make it extra secure)

    You now have your tree!!!

Cover the oasis ball with tissue paper or cellophane. Take coctail sticks and cut in half. Place sweet on one side of stick and the other side in the oasis ball. Do it all way round until ball is covered. Take tissue or crepe paper and put on top of plaster and then sweets on top. Jazz it up with ribbon and wallah!!

That looks great!! I just haven't got an artistic bone in my body so a tad dubious! Do you think that using oasis balls are better than polystyrene? As I've heard that oasis crumbles
