Swimming

**excited**, 15 January, 2009 at 20:21 Posted on Beauty & Wellbeing 0 4

Hello All.

Would swimming for half an hour a day, 3 times a week have any effect on my body....ie would it tone it, or would I have to swim for longer of more often to see the results.

Thanks.

    YES, yes it would !

In fact it is generally recognised that swimming is the best allr ound exercise you can do. It's low impact and you are using virtually all the muscles in your body. It's great !!

30 minutes is just about right, as is three times a week. When you start getting used to it, you can' up the stakes' a bit, and in any case, as you get fitter, it will seem easier and you will naturally be able to do more.

    Good luck

Yes it definitely will tone up your body. Try and vary your strokes if you can. Front crawl and back stroke are better calorie burners as they are faster but all strokes will tone your muscles. Swimming is great.

Try setting yourself goals as well to keep you motivated. I used to see how many lengths I could do in a set time and then each time I went, I tried to do more - even if it was just one more length. It helped to give me a focus otherwise I got bored just "ploughing" up and down.

Gosh, yes it would! I only do 20 mins when I go and it definitely helps (I do 32 lengths which is half a mile).

Cheeky - TBH no-one will be looking. Seriously. And most people won't be able to see as they won't have their glasses on! I'm like a baby mole round the swimming pool without my specs. And swimming will slim you down anyway!
