Swine Flu (so much for not being worried)

Purple Pixie, 6 July, 2009 at 09:51 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 6

We're living in one of the 'Hot Spots' so suspected cases aren't being tested, they are just being assumed to have it.

My OH has been very ill all weekend, spoke to the GP this morning and she all but confirmed that he's got it. He works in a very public place (which is also a Hot Spot area) so it's not that great a suprise. I've just informed work and we've agreed that I'll work from home for the next few days on the safe side.

So, in reply to the thread the other day about how it's affecting our lives, I'll now change my response from 'not at all' to 'it's worse than living with a bloke with 'man' flu' ? He doesn't get ill but this has really knocked him out. He's barely been awake for the last 48 hours and when he is he's very poorly. Off to go and break the news to my parents (we spent all day Saturday with my dad who has got lots of medical problems so I'm really worried about him getting it) and to make sure our 3 year old is ok.

Are you in the Medway area by any chance?

Sorry to hear this. We live in Brum and realistically I expect for us both to get it at some point - don't see how we can avoid it.

What is your H taking for the flu? Other than lots of sleep by the sound of it!

Hope he feels better soon. ?

Just paracetamol/ibuprofen/benylin4flu/whatever he gets his hands on.

The GP said there's no point prescribing him tamiflu(sp?) as it would only reduce the length of the symptoms by one day.

My mum was confirmed with it on Friday, have to say with the Tamiflu she was a load better in herself by yesterday so hopefully he'll feel more like himself in a day or so. We have a 14 month old and he's looked after by my mum on Thursday/Fridays so was with her lots, all we've been told is to keep an eye out on symptoms.
