Table Centerpiece Help Please

panda2011, 11 January, 2011 at 16:57 Posted on Planning 0 6

The lovely RAF have agreed to lend me enough of these silver candelabras to go on all of our guest tables & for the top table they will lend us 3 x 5 arm big beastie candelabras - thanks very much RAF Officers Mess at Walters Ash! Now that I've got the use of the candelabras I need to completely rethink what I was going to do as my table decs. I'm having a theme based around different shades of pink roses & still want to incorporate the roses around the cendelabra but I'm not sure how to do it. I was thinking about a silk flower garland wrapped around the 'stem' of the candelabra. Would this work? Would it be a fire risk having silk flowers so close to lit candles?

Please excuse the state of our dining table! Sorry for the mahoosive pic, I haven't worked out how to make them smaller on here yet.

Wohoo!! Slightly taller candelabras, but we did a similar thing last year and it worked really well. These are fresh, but I don't see why it wouldn't work with artificial...please ignore my sil moving the candelabra from the day time room to the evening venue!!!

Now that's the sort of thing I'm talking about! Ideally I would have had taller candellabras but free is good so it looks like we're having shorter ones lol! I actually prefer real flowers but thought they might be harder to attach to the cendellabra & get it all to look pretty? Were your flowers put onto the cendellabras by the florist or did you do it yourself? I'm not sure how long we will be able to borrow them from the RAF which may be an issue if the RAF need them in the week before our wedding & we decide to get a florist to pretty them up ?

Oops, just realised you are actually a florist! Panda now feels a bit silly!

I was the florist, and as it was my best friends wedding I ended up doing it all! It's very easy with fresh; I ordered ready made ivy garlands from my supplier at www.tregothnan.co.uk - they sort of plait the ivy stems together tightly. I then just cut the roses down to about an inch long, taped the ends off to keep them fresh and then pushed them into the plait and they held really tightly. They were still fine the next morning.

Fab, thanks both of you! That is a huge help ? I think I need to have a chat with a couple of florists & suss out all the options. Can't believe the RAF will let me borrow their candellabras for free!
