Table centerpieces! Ideas please!

Life.Edit, 30 May, 2017 at 15:53 Posted on Planning 0 6

Hey All,

Hoping you could throw some good ideas at me. I'm struggling to find a table centerpiece that doesn't rely on flowers. I'm not a big flower fan, and the cost of them isn't appealing either. I'm currently trying to find an idea I like before I have to book a florist for bouquets.

Big thank you in advance!

I've got a venue dresses because I'm not a big flower person either. We're having a lot of candles and she's going to put them in the ceremony room and move them to the tables for dinner.

It wasn't that expensive either. We have an arch for the ceremony from them as well and a few other bits and pieces. All in it's about £400. So if you just wanted the candles it's very do-able.

Pinterest is your friend though. Search for centerpieces there and see what options catch you eye.

Only thing I would say is not to have big tall vases as centre pieces as your guests can't see past them to talk to the other guests sitting across from them!

I think candles make a lovely table centre. Maybe you could put them in hurricane vases if you wanted a more traditional wedding look. Or loads of tea lights in jam jars for a more rustic effect.

Is there something that you and your htb are really into? Or something that goes with your theme? To explain what I'm talking about, we're both massive bookworms and are planning to buy copies of the books each of our tables will be named after and layer them up in the middle of the table. The bonus is that guests are free to keep a copy of the book if they'd like to read it! So maybe something that links in with the name of each table?

We're using books. I got 100 old leather bound reader's digest books on ebay for £50. We're having a book themed wedding as we both love to read. The idea is to have two books lying flat with one or two standing upright and then an empty Kraken bottle with the table name card thingy.

I'm not a massive flower fan, however, we've ended up using dried flowers, and have put them in medicine bottles (bought off ebay). It's cost us about £370 in bottles and £60 in flowers. We've going to keep our fav bottles, but resell most of them. I'm hoping to get more than I paid for them, as some were filthy and I've really cleaned them up!

We were going to go for loads of candles (our venue was fine with real flames) but we realised that a midsummer wedding would not be the best for candles as it's likely to be too bright to see them!

We had board games, because we're not big flower fans, and also flowers are expensive, problem with candles is some venues wont allow real ones due to fire etc, so maybe battery ones should be fine.

If you are feeling deflated https://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&biw=1366&bih=657&site=imghp&tbm=isch&q=unusual+centrepieces&spell=1&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwiF_pOqxqnUAhVIJsAKHWJ4Ap8QvwUIXCgA for more giggles really, there's even a crayon tree in there (second row)
