Table centre pieces

sarahann44, 28 August, 2008 at 19:03 Posted on Planning 0 12

Hello,

Can anyone help me!?

I am a bit confused over the table centrepieces.

We are having a small day ceremony with less than 40 people and a large evening reception. Can anyone tell me if we need to have the tablecentre pieces for just the day or if we need to do enough for the evening reception aswell.

Just thinking that they will look good in the day when the tables are all dressed up but will they look a bit strange in the evening when there are no cutlery, favours, place cards etc?

We are having other stuff like disposable camaras and other decorative stuff on the tables in the evening tho.

Please help!!!

Thanks

    Hello!

    Welcome to hitched!

I'm only having about 15-20 to the ceremony and wedding breakfast so we're having that in a side room and then reception for about 150 in the evening. I'm not doing flowers, I'm having balloon topiary trees on the evening tables with chocolate coins scattered instead of doing favours.

I think you need to have something otherwise it may look a bit too plain but it's up to you, I wouldn't go spending a fortune though.

When's the big day - have you got plenty of time to decide?

    Hi,

Got loads of time yet. Not til 30th Oct 09. Starting to get all the planning done now tho so its not a panic next year.

I'll have to have a good think about it.

I was originally planning on doing enough for the evening reception aswell but I have lately been thinking they may look daft. Probally will go go ahead and do that coz its like you just said it may look a bit plain without them.

    Thanks for your help.

I have never seen table centre pieces in the evening, the turn around from the meal is enough for staff to deal with..... I personally wouldnt bother.

    Thanks for replying.

    Now I'm confused again.

Your right it is gonna be a lot to deal with.

I am planning on getting disposable camaras and the champayne bottles full of party poppers for on the tables but can you think of anything else I could put on the table coz I don't want it to look plain.

It's easier for me because the evening is in a separate room from the wedding breakfast so it's not going to be a problem for staff because they won't be in that room. So the balloon people will decorate and then nothing else needs to be done.

Speak to the venue you choose, I'm sure they will help you if you do want the tables decorated for the evening.

    I'm on the Wirral.

Were getting married in Chester Reg Office and then having the reception in the Holiday Inn Chester South.

They had a really good wedding package so its not costing us the earth.

What about you whens the big day and where you havin it?

Sort of snap - Holiday Inn at Bexley 29/08/09 - hopefully!

Obviously don't know the layout of your hotel but there's a smaller room to the side we are using - are you able to do the same cos then you could just decorate the room for the evening and leave it as it is until everybody turns up for the evening bit?

    How spooky is that!

    Unfortunatley that isn't an option.

There is 2 rooms but the smaller one is only big enough for the evening buffet so we have got to have a the wedding breakfast and the reception in the one large room.

You could cut costs and have both if you need too i did floating candles and flowers in dishes which were used during the day and then lit for the evening part which may help you...

Depends on your colour / theme of course but how about candles in "pumpkin" holders for the evening tables? As it is the day before Halloween!

As a venue dresser we tend to alternate the table decorations & then just add a few candles & petals or balloons to the tables that have been added for the evening. You probably won't need any extra tables in the evening as you only need a what you have in the day., Men are usuallly stood at the Bar & not everyone will be seated as the day time.
