Table Centres - please flash

amee, 9 September, 2009 at 12:57 Posted on Planning 0 11

Hey all

Thought I had this all sorted and now am having second thoughts. Unfortunately I don't have any pics to share with you, however, I shall try and explain as much as I can.

We are having six tables of six so the tables aren't v. big and the original plan was a glass that is about 25cm tall, with a gold sparkly trim, filled with a gel candle and then two small tea lights with matching gold garland decoration to sit on either side. Out wedding is NYE so trying to be a bit festive but not excessively xmassy as that will be over with by then, the xmas tree in the venue will still be up though.

My wobble has started when I did a mock up of a table setting at home and realised that these candle glasses aren't much taller than wine glasses.

I'm also doing this planning about 300 miles from the actual venue, which has been refurbed since I was last in it. Thankfully my mum lives close by and says its beautiful. She was also the one that picked out the candle glasses and has said that it will look fine. I'm however not sure and wanted to see what others have done, so please flash your ideas/what you have had, if you don't mind.

The venue itself has said they have little bud vases but I'm not sure I like that idea......

Please help

x

Hi your my wedding twin as ours in NYE too. Soooo excited i havent got a picture but we are having goldfish bowls on glass mirrors filled with clear gel (so that it looks like ice) and blue lights in them (our colours are blue, white / Ivory and silver) with a white gerbera and a bit of silver leaf thingy. So they aren't massive either. I was worried about mine too as i thought they may look too small our tables seat 8 but my florist who is doing them and venue planner has reasurred me they will be fine as they both said less is more. Maybe you could place them on glass mirrors (our venue is providing these as they use them regularly so you could ask yours) and you could maybe have scatter some of those table crystals / diamonds or whatever they are called if you know what i mean.

    Hey there wedding twin!! :o)

The sound lovely. I had originally hoped for goldfish bowls but Mam was saying they would get in the way....... this is what I get for having a small wedding!!!

I love the idea of the glass mirrors, might have a try of that. would look pretty with the candle lit too!

I have seen some of the table diamonds, they are nice. Was wondering about possibly using table confetti, I know the venue has allowed that before.

Where are you holding the wedding (country wise?), ours is in the North West of Scotland! I think that fate has managed to time it so we leave the venue just as the town put on their NYE firework display which I must say I'm pretty chuffed about. I get to entertain my guests for free!! :o)

Amee your wedding sounds lovely and scots sure know how to do New Year properly. ours is in England in Staffordshire, am sooo excited, want to make it festive but christmas will be over so its a bit difficult am sort of having a snowflake and ice theme. want the evening do to be a real good NYE party but still want it to be my wedding if you no what i mean. Where our venue is its got acreas and acreas of gardens and then some mansions back onto it so hopefully a lord and lady of the manor will have a party and let fireworks off and we can pretend they were ours!!!!! tee hee

Cheekyleeky your centres look really classy, very nice x

We had really high ceilings so the flowers suited the venue perfectly.

Thanks, bought the vases on a whim and didn't know what they would look like. Was really pleased with them when I saw them on the day.

Thanks for all the replies, apologies for the late response, only just got round to hitching now!

cheekyleeky - i can't seem to see yours, must be something to do with my works computer.

Perfectgems - i love yours, they are lovely. This is what I had in mind too.

I also love the glass cube vase with the roses, v. elegant.

Wedding twin....... i shall have fingers and toes crossed that you get to share a fireworks display too

On the topic of the date being 'odd' I've had all of these comments too. Esp from the MIL 2B. She is apparently unable to come due to work commitments and in hindsight maybe we should have checked with them before booking everything but I didn't think she would be in work on NYE. Thankfully H2B has said he doesn't mind, he's not v. close with his family and has said that all that's important is that that we get married when it suits us!

Ma has been up to the venue and tried the table centres she originally found apparently work really well. We are going to get some mirror tiles for underneath too and some table confetti.

fingers crossed I won't change my mind again now that they are bought!
