Table decoration advice please

ajdown, 6 February, 2011 at 20:41 Posted on Planning 0 55

Ok so we've finally got the bits together to start looking at table centrepieces. To remind you, our colourscheme is hunter green and ivory, with autumnal accents. Our table centres will have a square of hunter green on it.

We're thinking of fibre optic lamps - rather than flower displays - on mirrors, with scented candles, crystals and silk leaves vaguely set out as below.

Two questions really.

1) Do we need more crystals, and if so more of the green, or mixed with another colour?

2) Are the "ice blue/white" fibre optics ok, or should we seek out green ones instead?

Thankies!

Ooooh, I'm loving the fibre optic lamp idea...very original! I think the whole thing looks LOVELY! :-)

If you want a bit of honest feedback as well....I'd look for green optic lamps to really set the colour scheme and defo more green crystals!

    Gorgeous! xx

I think in green it will look lovely for the evening part but doubt it would look that nice during the day AJ. Could you have some nice thick piller candles during the day maybe then replace with the lighting later?

The hunter green square will go under the mirrors in the centre of the table, which will then have underneath it the white tablecloth.

I don't like the petals sorry. They look really cheap and odd all different colours and spaced way too evenly. The candle looks a bit dangerous under the fibre optic lamp too.

You need more crystals I think AJ? Those few look a bit lost.

Will the petals be in the same colour you have shown here?

I love fibre optics, but have to admit if I were your guest would be spending all my time stroking my fingers through them ? I do think a green lamp would look better though, the blue is too cold for your theme.

I think less is more - how about the fibre optic lamp & the mirror?

Like Bridebrat, I think the leaves/candles look a bit random.

    Impressed by your creativity though!

If i am honest i don't think the LEDs lend themselves to your theme. I imagine something a bit more natural with the new forest. Have you thought about using the leaves for something like these? or pine cones ?

I like the autumnal colour scheme but I honestly think the fibre optics clash with your theme... they are far too modern.

I would be tempted to have pillar candles instead... and scatter the petals a bit more randomly, they are too uniform as they are.

I think there are much nicer things you could use as centrepieces.

Fibre optic lamps are very 70's and a bit UFO like rather than Autumnal.

If you're gonna stick to the autumnal thing, I think something more along these lines would work and still be less expensive than a floral arrangement -

    Honestly?

I don't think it works at all. With the beautiful New Forest I would be inclined to bring the outdoors in, as you are using Pine cones but still want candles then this is more the look I would being looking at:

I'd keep going with your autumnal theme eg pine cones and leaves

Or what about conkers and sycamore leaves?

I think the pumpkins and/or candle ideas are really pretty and will set off the leaves and pine cone place cards really well!

Sorry, not loving the fibre optics (as a centrepiece), they're cool and very original but not very New Foresty, and like someone else said, I would spend my time playing with them Smiley laugh They're not to my taste as a centrepiece as I say, but there are some great ideas on here from the other ladies. If you are absolutely set on using them, lose the petals, they don't go with the fibre optics, and the candles cold be a bit of a hazard with the lamp too, you could use those battery operated tea lights instead? More crystals is never a bad idea either.

Pumpkins are too "halloween" for my liking and that's certainly not something we are looking to emulate.

I'm not too keen on the fibre optics- sorry (my opinion) i don't think they flow well with all the other bits that are going on. I do love some of the other options that people have mentioned. But in the end its what you and your wife like Smiley smile

Really? When I think Halloween, I have images of kids dressed up as ghosts and shizz.

Uncarved pumpkins are very harvest festival, I thought.
