Table decorations

rach_S_, 16 November, 2013 at 22:42 Posted on Planning 0 13

Hi All,

What are you having on your wedding tables? Any photos?

Im wondering if you have to have flowers or whether it would look odd without them?!

Probably have round tables, no top table, white table clothes with a navy table runner, possibly some jars with photo props in for a bit of fun.... not sure if we need something in the centre that's a bit special, what do you think?

Rach

I've seen a few tables without centrepieces and think they can look very bare and even with other things on them it can all look a bit scattered around and nothing neat in the middle iykwim?

We're having bowls with flowers in them, there's loads to choose from though and it doesn't have to be expensive, birdcages lanterns candles etc.

The jar might be ok with things in them but I think it looks better with something neat, suppose would have to see it though you might pull it off Smiley smile

We didn't bother with flowers or centrepeices as such. We had 17 tables - no way was I paying for flowers for all of those.

    I'm not having flowers either and as I'm having a U shaped table had to think of length rather than a focal point, here's a flash of the plans so far;

I'm going to try and steer away from flowers for table centre pieces (we are not having round tables), my only "thing" about centre pieces, whether they are flowers or something else, is that they don't obstruct the conversation across the table. The amount of weddings I have been too where I could not speak to the person sitting opposite me because I couldn't see them for the gigantic bunch of flowers/vase/other decoration in the way. (sorry that's not much help really is it)

I'm having round tables white table linen with silver candelabra as centrepieces. Our table numbers are a photo of us with our son holding the number, each table has a different pic. I think sometimes there can be too much on the table, I went to a wedding recently where there was so much on the table that there wasn't any room to put your glass down! Photo props sound fun but I would think about how formal the wedding is when deciding about the centrepieces

I have model tall ships as well - but these will be for the top table/double up as gifts for parents. Sourced them from a charity shop!

I'm not having any centrepieces, just flowers on the top table as they are included in my package.

    Hi,

We aren't having flowers as I couldn't justify the cost. I know mine aren't everyones cup of tea but we are having the reception in a conservatory with really tall ceilings and I wanted something to fill the space.

I was going to have flowers originally as I bought buckets to put them in, but we've since changed our mind on this.

We're now thinking of a quirky yet probably crazy idea: sticks of candy rock in our colours placed in the buckets with our names / date of wedding.

We'd probably aim for 8-10 sticks in a bucket, maybe stick some ribbon around it and somehow make it look pretty!!

This could also double up as a second favour, but I'm not sure about it.

I'm thinking flowers is quite overdone and it would be good to have something different that we could give to the guests afterwards, but is this a crazy idea?
