Table name idea!

I have been pondering over table names for a while now and was about to give up and just have simple numbers, when an idea popped into my head. ?

Have you seen those CDs you can buy for a birthday gift, with smash hits from your year of birth on them?

Well this gave me an idea, what about years as table names with special events thats took place on the 23rd March, our wedding day, in history?!

Its been really interesting to source the information and i still want to dig a bit deeper. Its actually quite fascinating ??! The only thing is its taking time to weed out the good 'news', and leave out the morbid history.

The plan is to have the table year number as the 'name' and then to have a write up on the back explaining what significant part of history happened on 'this day' in the year '1972' for example!

So far we have Russell Howards birthday, a few AWESOME number ones, first car operating in London, Titanic winning 11 Oscars (my fav film ever), Oasis playing a pub gig and getting paid £100 before they were famous, evil Knievel broke 93 bones after successfully clearing 35 cars (OH insists this has to go in lol)

now i really like this idea, but worried our guests will find it a bit.. odd! lol

I love this idea! It's interesting and unusual but still relates to you and your day. I'd personally try and find more weird and wonderful examples but I think it's great!

It will be unique to you, and will provide a talking point for your guests. My brother-in-law was baffled with our table names and said his table spent ages discussing the possible options of our choice. It was nothing more than purple cartoon characters to fit in with our colour scheme - think Barney the Dinosaur, Care Bear, Grape Ape etc!! He was relieved that he wasn't being thick or dense!!

I have seen many 100s of different ideas -- but never yours, which I think is a great idea, the detail about the event on the back will also get people around the table who may no know each other to start talking.

One thing tho I do not think the word successfully should be included when he broke 93 bones !! ?evil Knievel broke 93 bones after successfully clearing 35 cars

Haha thats what the internet calls it! i guess he broke a record succesfully but not unscathed by any means. OH is into bikes and quads so this one really fits the bill with him

going to see what else i can find!

Glad i am not the only one who find this idea good hehe
