Table names

Purple Pixie, 2 March, 2012 at 12:21 Posted on Planning 0 21

We definitely want table names rather than numbers but we don't know what to have. Our day is split into three sections - garden party, dinner party and after party. The table names will obviously be needed during the 'dinner party' part of the day which is going to have a very elegant/glamorous feel to it. There is also a 'sweet treats' theme running through our wedding (cupcakes as Save the Dates, cookie favours, lots of cakes, ice-cream trike etc.) so I had thought about naming the tables after types of cakes/sweets etc. but that doesn't seem to feel right with the elegant/glamorous theme.

Has anybody got any suggestions?

Thanks

You could call them glamorous places you might go to like 'Tea at the Ritz' or 'Scones at The Ivy'? We are thinking of having a table named after places we've been together - so the top table will be named for our first date, others for holidays we've been on together, where we were when he proposed etc...

How about old fashioned sweets: Humbugs, Lemon sherbet (or sherbet lemons), blackjacks, strawberry Bonbons, Rhubarb and custard etc

Maybe you can have posh sounding sweets/desserts to make it elegant, e.g. tiramisu, truffles, millionaire's shortcake?

We're having our favourite albums, 5 of mine and 5 of my OHs, then having the album covers as the table name settings.

Ours is at Christmas, so we're having Reindeer names! Don't feel the need to be 'glam' or anything - you could have something really fun Smiley smile

We are having table numbers but years that mean something and then a picture of us from that year.

So the years we were born, the years our daughters were born, when we met etc. The top table will be 2012 as they year we got married!

On the other side I thought I would put facts/other events from that year but not sure if its a bit naff!!

I like this idea, really personal and think the facts bit is lovely.

We're doing something similar - having tables named after places in Cornwall with top table being St Michael's Mount where we're having our blessing and photos in front of and putting a little card with a bit of information about each place. Our favours are fridge magnets with different views of the Mount with our wedding date on.

OP think you have some really good ideas - stick to what you guys want to do. It will be personal whatever it is.

Thanks everyone, I really appreciate your replies.

I like the idea of 'posh' desserts but I'm worried that our guests will be drooling for that dessert rather than whatever they're having ?

I feel your pain, I have the same issue in that we have no idea what names to have for our tables, there isn't even a theme, and nothing has jumped out at us. Sorry I can't help, but I hope there are some good ideas out there.

An I right in thinking you bake? What about cupcake flavours such as red velvet, spiced carrot, Belgian chocolate, etc.

    Oh what a great idea!

I can't help with the names though as I'm just drooling from the thought of some of these. Though I do love the idea of sweet names like "sherbet lemons" "marshmellows" etc, then you can, as suggested, make your favours with those sweets.
