Hello ?

We are currently about 4 months away from the wedding and my darling mother has got me stressing about what to name our tables.

We have the top table to seat 7 and 7 tables that seat 8 and I need table names as I have two aunties that need to sit at seperate tables but I don't want any table hierarchy of why am I on table 5 and she's on table 3 blah blah blah!!.

So...I'm trying to decipher what to call our tables and the only names I have seen so far are:

Precious Stones - Diamond, Pearl, Topaz etc.

or Sweets - love hearts for the top table, wine gums etc and use these in the favour boxes and on table plans.

These are the only ideas I have and despite searching google I haven't had my "wow" moment of thats what I want.

So help me ladies - what are you having or give me some more ideas please.

Thank You

Amanda

We haven't decided yet but we will definitely be having table names. We're not having a top table and then OH's parents are divorced so we don't want any 'hierarchy' issues. I'm not sure they would be but names seems safer.

We're having the name of parks where we have spent time on holidays along with a few word to sum up that holiday so we have:

    Tsavo

    Algonquin

    Yosemite

    Yanchep

and for the top table...Central of course :-)

My OH is a classic car enthusiast, so I'm considering using pictures his fav cars as table names , I haven't actually mentioned it to him yet because I'm not really sure what people will make of it so don't want him to run away with the idea and then me change my mind but I do think it be a good way of adding something my OH likes to the plans since so far all he seems to say " yes if you want it and its in the budget I don't mind" (not always helpful ! ).

    WDYT?

They do and it's perfectly fine. I just chose names as I had 17 tables and ended up with members of the wedding party on table 9! Didn't want people to feel less important than others, even though that wasn't the intention, so went with names instead.

I let my OH pick this as my mind was drawing a complete blank. He has however come up with rugby pitches... He says it's romantic cos he picked 5 welsh and 5 english which shows he was thinking of his "sais"; ie the english girl he's marrying.

Either of you have any hobbies you could use for inspiration?

We've been pondering this too. There's so many themes for this that we can have, its just a case of wittling them down.

I must admit at the past few weddings I've been to, table numbers were an issue for some people..You could hear them whispering 'ohh I'm at table 9' and 'ohh Im at table 7' and so on, it was almost like a competition and I don't want that happenening at my wedding. Why do people think that there is an alterior motive to table numbers? It baffles me! :/

Definitely agree! It's so silly, not everyone can be right next to the bride & groom!!

All those of you who are naming your tables, does your table name theme link in to any other part of your big day? I'd really like to have table names as either pubs or halls in Aberystwyth as we met at uni there, but nothing else in our day would be Aber/uni related (well, apart from 2 of my bridesmaids and some guests who we also met there!). I feel a bit like the table name theme needs to tie in more with the rest of the day's theme, but I think that's pretty impossible for our table name theme. Unless we go with Aber Uni's colours of purple and yellow as our colour scheme?!

I don't think it needs to carry on the theme. Ours is in a kind of way in that our theme is turning into bookish/travel kind of rough theme (all very set in stone ;-) )

So silly, they should be just happy they were invited to the day right not complaining about where there sat! ?

After a lot of thought we have settled on waterfalls from around the world.....castes and musicals also made the shortlist. We will be having a picture of the waterfall and some info on the waterfall itself on each table....hopefully will be sort of a conversation starter/ice breaker....
