Table Names

LeicesterBride, 13 June, 2012 at 14:43 Posted on Planning 0 13

OH and I were just thinking of numbering our tables. Then one night, after a glass or two of something or other we thought it might be mildly amusing to name the tables actual names. Specifically names that mean nothing to us, for comedy effect. Now I realise that typing this out, and reading on a wedding forum isn't remotely funny, but we think our friends would giggle.

e.g. Leonard; Margot; Gordon....etc

So, given it sounds naff and stupid set out here, is it naff and stupid, or random and quirky (which is clearly what we're aiming for!)

Thoughts? I'm not offended either way ?

I think you would be fielding queries about the names "why Leonard/Margot/Gordon????" all day and it would irritate the hell out of you after the first five minutes.

Have to say, I've never really got "table names" anyway. It's a TABLE!

Good point well made - might be irritating after a while.

Good girl! When it comes to your wedding day I think I can promise you you won't give a flying fandango how the tables are labelled!

Love it - I'd say go for it if you want to! Always thought it'd be great if somebody named their tables salt, tennis, football, coffee, dining etc.....! ?

Although you may get (limited) comedy value from an aged aunt asking why she is sitting on Leonard....

I would say go for it, if all the names have some meaning to you both. it will certainly be a talking point for your guests. I met my h2b at a camp site and suggested we name the tables after each area of the site - this wasnt met with too much enthusiasm but the majority are all tree names so hopefully he will come round to the idea.

This is brilliant. And I would hope people would 'get' it and not need to ask you!!

I just snorted water everywhere at the "Brian's face" thing - I'm such a child!

I actually really like this idea. We're doing films as our table names, and recreating the posters for the films starring ourselves ? I think it's nice having it a bit different!
