We're getting married at a hotel virtually on the beach on the Gower peninsula in south Wales, So the top table will be the name of the beach we're at, and the other table will be named after the other beaches, so

    Oxwich

    Pobbles

    Caswell

    Rhossili

    etc.

    There's plenty to choose from.

We're than having large varnished pebbles as the table name markers

Lamby - can't wait to see that festival poster!

To those with a Spurs theme (and Spangles) - my OH is a Spurs fan too - we are having a Spurs blue colour theme, that is the extent of the Spurs input!

Anyway, like SamSam we are having places we have been on holiday with the top table as a honeymoon destination. All cities.

So top table is San Fran, then Paris, Bern, Prague, Pisa, Barcelona, Copenhagen, Marrakech, New York, Edinburgh & Bruges.

I'm going to find a vintage style B&W photo of each to use for table settings. Possibly with an old fashioned world map for the table plan.

We were going to have photos of us on holiday in different destinations but we have too many tables now and haven't been to enough places!!!

Sooo... we are going to have places that we are going to visit on our honeymoon which fits with our honeymoon gift list!

    Meeru

    Sri Lanka

    Columbo

    Syrigia

    Pinnawela

    etc...

With pictures of the places as postcards.

LOVE the NY idea.....we are really struggling of what to call table names, do fancy something different but niether of us have a 'thing'.

Our theme, well mine really lol, is english country garden / vintage but we thought about having a james bond theme and naming the tables after the films as are quite cool; from russia with love, you only live twice, diamonds are forever, the spy who loved me, for your eyes only, tomorrow never dies, the world is not enough, quantum of solace

But dont think it fits in with the rest of the theme, thought we could tie it in my having a mobile casino (mixed response to this idea) or favours as a raffle ticket with the chance to win the james bond box set.

    What do u think?

I think if you have something that ties in with the theme then go for it. The raffle and/ or casino are great ideas.

You can also get fake scatter diamondy whotsits to put on the tables? I've also seen chocolates that are made to look like casino chips?

I don't think the table names need to "fit" into your theme. Ours didn't, and numbers certainly don't.

If there's no obvious thing you want to name you tables then there's nothing wrong with numbers.

Ours were named after some of the holidays we'd been - Hawaii, Sri Lanka, Cape Town, Barbados, Las Vegas, Copenhagen, Venice, American Adeventure, Bali & KL.

    Hi CaptainRae,

I am thinking of doing the same thing, we went to New York in November last year where OH proposed! We love New York so much. I wasn't sure whether or not to do this but after seeing all the responses here I think I will!

We were thinking of having different Mini model names as we met through a Mini club, but I'm not completely sold on the idea myself...

We are having different town names and landmarks in Jamaica, eg. Runaway Bay, Ochos Rios, Dunns Fall, Santa Maria etc, as this is where we are off to for our honeymoon ?

We're having numbers, but having pictures of OH and me at that age surrounding the number. Will probably put the young numbers on tables of people who've known us from 18+. and the older numbers on extended family tables. If that makes any sense at all!

We might have random things that mean a lot to us and people can try and work out during the meal what they mean.

I really love the idea of New York street names; but OH is a big Formula One fan and so we're going for famous F1 circuits (e.g. Monaco, Silverstone, Monza, Spa, Suzuka etc). I did try and convince OH to go with Cambridge United legends (my love, not his lol) - but he vetoed that idea as I've got my way for everything else - although I'm happy because I love F1 too (and I'm not sure I could think of more than 2 CUFC legends) ha ha

    I like your NY idea!

We're having "family places", where our grandparents were born or gew up, same for our parents and us, then where we first lived together, etc... It means it will be a combo of French/Breton/English/Welsh/Scottish names! We're adding a photo for each place and a short description like "where xxx's Grandma was born".

Yay! Another mini fan! Smiley smile Do you do the shows?

I'm still undecided, got a while yet before we have to decide anyway. Other half really likes the idea, but then all I kept coming up with was "Mayfair, Cooper, Cooper S, Mk 1..." lol I think I need to sit down with all of the names and decide which ones I'd want.

    Hi girls,

    all fab ideas Smiley laugh

We're both big movie buffs so each table is getting names after a love film with a love quote from the film under each name like Braveheart - "I will love you my whole life. You and no other"

    Smiley smile xx

    Hi!

I think we're having places we've been on holiday/lived too. I've found photo's of us in each of the locations to display on the tables.

    Hols...
    Edingburgh
    Glasgow
    Zante
    Tenerife
    Barcelona

    Manchester (Uni)
    Liverpool (my family)
Preston (H2B family and where we live)

Love the idea of honeymoon as top table.

I like the idea of map for table plan too.....Amethyst please let me know how you get on with that!!
