Does your wedding have a general feel or theme?

We went for relaxed and country garden esq so name our tables after spring flowers to fit in!!

i dont like the tv show reference i have to say but if its personal to you then go for it!

Me and the OH don't really have a theme as such so we are having the following...

    Captian's Table (for top table)

    Water Table

    Pool Table

    Coffee Table

    Snooker Table

    Time's Table

and Cake Table for the Cake table!!!!

Lullabelle- never heard of that, I like it!

To the OP, I would go for the Love in different languages or if you really can't decide just have numbers- no one will mind!

    Ours was our favourite bands

    The Specials,

    The Jam,

    The Wailers,

    The Pioneers,

    The Maytals,

    The Upsetters

and needless to say the table of teenage boys was the 'Bad Manners' table.

    Hello,

I recently featured the below 10 ideas on the hitched.co.uk newsletter:

    - Pick countries you’ve visited together or famous global land marks

    - Choose street names that you’ve lived on in the past

    - Important dates in your relationship along with the reason

    - Names of your favourite pubs, restaurants, etc.

    - If you’re having a floral theme, pick names of flowers

    - Your favourite films, books, songs or bands as a couple

    - Consider what is important to your relationship; Love, Trust, Faith etc.

    - Celebrity table names with matching themes for each table

    - Famous couples such as Romeo & Juliet or William & Kate.

    - Go for traditional numbers, but include pictures of you both at that age

    Hope that helps!

    Fran x

OH is from a boaty family so we're naming them after locks on the river Thames.

However had we not thought of that, we were just going to number them!

    Silverstone

    Knockhill

    North West

    Oliver's Mount

    Mallory Park

with grid formation on the table plan

I've got to say I love that idea! I wonder if anyone will be able to name them all from just the outlines!

My OH is a film buff (horror mostly, but that could never work!) so we're going with movies that mean something to us.

Our table is my fave film ever, True Romance. And then we have ones such as: Crazy, Stupid, Love, and Neverending Story, and Manhattan.

I thought I might try and super-impose our own faces on the True Romance photo that will be on the table plan, just for a laugh Smiley smile

My H is a kayaker so we named it after rivers he had canoed on or a guest on that table had canoed on.

OH is Welsh and him and my dad are huge cricket fans, so we're thinking of either words that relate to marriage such as 'love', trust', 'honesty', 'laughter' etc in Welsh as our table names, or funny cricket terms such as 'howzat?' 'googly', 'fine leg' 'silly mid-off' etc.

I'm not sure I would "get" table names referrenced to One Tree Hill ?.

We're probably going for whiskeys, in a nod to my Scottish heritage (my Dad is Scottish), plus OH and his Dad also like whiskey so I thought they could each pick their favourites as a way to get them involved.

I originally thought they could each drink the respective bottles and we could have the empties as table names but for some reason they declined!

We're having our table names related to our favourite show! It doesn't bother us if no one else gets the reference! I love one tree hill! You could have couples from the show? For example, petting/lucid, Brooke/julien, Keith/Karen, mouth/Millie & Haley/nathan

We have a love heart theme sounds cheesy but trying to keep it classy.....so the table names are different words for love in different languages we have 6 tables in total.

I think go with something personal to you. I think it's a great idea to go with something related to a tv show, as that's what we did ? It didn't matter to us if people 'got it' as it was unique and meant something to us, and can be a talking point, as well as something people will remember.

I just went to a wedding where the tables were lyrics from songs that the couple felt expressed something about their relationship. These songs were then put onto CDs and were the favours so you could then hear the entire song that the lyric came from. I think the songs were also chosen to tell the story of their relationship as the first was "My day will come" and they have both met later in life without having had a serious relationship before. Very sweet idea.

I love the idea of unsequential numbers with photos of the couple at those ages. I love photos of people as kids! If we were having a seating plan then it would either be music related (favourite artists or songs) or tennis related.

I think that it doesn't matter if other people 'get it'. As long as they can identify their table! You could have a note explaining why you chose it, or have a competition for whoever can guess the link!

Ours are named after drinks, with the drinks on the table forming part of the centrepieces. If you wait 10ish days. I'll flash on here!

Love the name! Wish I could get my OH to watch it with me. He did buy me the Keith Scott body shop hoody to make up for it!

you could also have places form the show? Like, the Rivercourt, the body shop, Karen's cafe, Tric?

OH and I are both marshals, got engaged at Silverstone, so ours are going to be after the corner names at Silverstone.

I like the numbers & photos thing - I think that's cute. My manager had places her and hub had visited, with Table Mountain being their table (where they got engaged).

Mines the 8th (Tuesday!!) everythings hit manic stages now the 12 week mark has passed, fingers crossed for a week of nice weather!

OH is a chef so we're having nice wintery herbs as our table names, my dads a keen cook so as a thank you gift we've got him a wooden window box with the 7 herbs from each of our tables in it.

I'm not a fan of just random lists of things as table names which have no relation to the rest of the wedding theme. At the very least, I think there should be some kind of explanation as to why you've chosen that. A lot of people wouldn't know that the bride or groom is a film buff, or a Harry Potter fan etc. Just my opinion though.

The films thing works for us because everyone he invites will know, most of my lot know he's film-mad, and the few who don't 'get it' on my side soon will when they all get chatting at the table. Smiley smile

Apart from pure numbers (1-whatever) I think most table number themes aren't clear to everyone and I like that. It's generally something personal to the bride and groom, and a little talking point Smiley smile

I don't think there's anything wrong with just using numbers, but it's nice to add something personal if you want to.

We're naming our tables after Discworld books, and using a map of Ankh-Morpork for the table plan. Haven't decided if we'll put the actual books on the tables, or just a picture of the front cover.
