Table names - what are you having?

Oops sorry for the double post, I got an error the first time so didn't realise it had sent!

We're having places on the monopoly board.

We met when we were younger and went through a funny stage of collecting the special edition monopoly boards and playing it at each others parents houses.

And also we live right by and work in London it's where we socialise so the places will mean things to us too.

I am leaving it up to OH, from what he has said I think it will be places we have been to as a couple.

We are having the names of yard arms (tall ships) then going into sail names when we run out! (11 tables) We met sailing.

We will have a book themed wedding, because of our book addiction, and so our tables will have book titles.

Not many tables though as we don't have a lot of guests i'm afraid.

I left it up to the husband. He decided on the road names of the places we'd spent time together as a couple.

I designed them to look a little bit like vintage street name signs.

Ours will be half Doctor Who monsters, half Iron Maiden album names. It's the theme for our invites too!

We had airports - those that we had flown out of together as a couple. On the cards on each table, we also told a personal story about that airport (plus the flight number!) & it had a 'baggage tag' type strip down the side. OH originally studied as an aeronautical engineer so we wanted something related to it but not too nerdy/geeky that our guests wouldn't understand.

We'll be doing places we have travelled to together and we'll place a couple of photographs of us in each destination on the tables as well.

We met in school so we are doing lesson names like maths, science, english etc!!! Xx

These ideas are all fab! I think we're going to have years, and include little facts on the cards about what we were doing in that year (e.g starting school, travelling in australia) and also things that the guests on that table were doing in that year too. Thought they'd serve a dual purpose and be a little conversation starter too

We are having places in America that we've visited. We got engaged in Atlantic City and are having our honeymoon in Hawaii so wanted to incorporate those!

I don't think you can go wrong with things you both love, favourite hobbies / films / music etc.
We're having a u shaped table so won't have this fun sadly but we'd have either band or song / lyric names I think as we're both big music lovers
Films or computer games would be fun, not silly at all!

We're having famous dogs! We're on the Scooby Doo table ? We also have Toto, Muttley, Lassie... ?

We just had numbers and I made them myself - really easy and were as cheap as chips!

We aldo had numbers- they are actually candle stick holders and where from h&m.

Historic British Naval ships. OH is a naval architect and his dad was a commodore in the navy. I never got to meet him but there are a few nods to him throughout our day including naming the cake table (I know this isn't normal!) after the last ship he commanded before he passed away and using his ceremonial sword for the cake cutting :-)

it was either that or number them 1-11 and be done with it!

My OH asked if he could name the tables - he's into target shooting so he's decided to use rifle names. Most people won't know what they are so we're hoping it will get people talking & guessing and it's really nice we can incorporate his hobby without having the military there!!

I think it's a nice idea for the groom to do the table names, I think it makes him feel involved without feeling like he's too overwhelmed!

We had names of Bands we have seen together

We're thinking of either names of places that are special to us, or doing standard numbers and putting a photo of us at that age on the table. If we did the second, it might be better to have random numbers rather than being in order, so the photos vary a bit more.

A wedding I was at recently had names of love songs as the table names.

We're having places that mean something to us - countries/towns/counties, either where we've visited or somewhere that means something to us personally!

We were having table numbers...now I think names with a reason why is so cute! x

I like that it gives a personal touch, and I'm sure it's not too late to change your mind. The other benefit is that there's no perceived hierarchy that could come with putting some people at numbered tables.

Either just numbers for us.

Or our animals with their pictures ?

We had our favorite pubs!

We then sat our friends on the tables where we had certain memories of them in those pubs!

We're having numbers, but ones that mean something to us both eg. 16 the date we got engaged, 12 the night we first met, etc. Sure to confuse everyone (including me) terribly but we weren't original enough to think of anything else

What do you think about using family names? I've got 4 children and thought we could have one after me and the OH as well????

DreamCatchMe - I bought the numbers online. You can buy them in Hobby Craft although I bought mine from somewhere else online (can't remember where from now but I preferred the letter shapes and they were slightly cheaper). I then bought some decoupage paper (Hobby Craft) to decorate them. Sooooo simple
