Table Names/Numbers

mrsmiller2b, 23 April, 2010 at 16:10 Posted on Planning 0 25

Hi Ladies,

Me and my other OH are struggling to decide what to do about our tables, we don't know whether to have numbers or names. However when we've considered names we can't think of anything to use. We're both big rugby fans however using team names or stadiums or something like that doesn't really match the feel of the day. One of my friends got married last year and used song titles, which was lovely as they matched the songs to the people on that table, I obviously don't want to copy this idea.

What are you doing for your tables? I know numbers are the easy option but I wanted to try and be a little bit different. We're getting married at the end of October.

Thanks for any ideas xxx

I don't see why you can't have rugby related? It's only a small part of the day...

We're having places we've been to on holiday...

    Hawaii (top table)
    Sri Lanka
    American Adventure
    Cape Town
    Barbados
    Las Vegas
    Bali & Kuala Lumpur
    Venice
    Copenhagen

Our tables are named after casinos:

    Caesars Palace

    Luxur

    Monte Carlo

    The Venetian

    The Sands

    Casino Royale

    Bellagio

    Mirage

But that fits with my whole casino/james bond theme, it really would depend on what your going for xx

How about names of candles? Like a vanilla or a pine? You could do for Jo Malone scents

    http://www.jomalone.co.uk/site.nsf/shop/productspage?readform&cat=candles&subcat=CAT0073&product=PROD0017&CartID=435-163324

and then if you're giving presents they could be Jo Malone candles. I agree with GB though, your tables don't really need to fit the rest of your theme so much- we're having london bridges 'cos we're getting married on the Thames but the rest of the day is a lot more rose-themed.

Alternatively, what about naming them after autumn berry plants/trees?

    http://www.bakker.co.uk/G_550/Autumn-berries-gems-of-the-autumn-garden.htm

Then you could have a picture of each plant on the table. Or even the plant as centre piece!

We are having pubs that we used to drink in, and the top table is named after the pub we met in. Going to each pub this sunday.... and getting a friend to take a pic of us outside (and no we wont be visiting inside all pubs...we would be on the floor by the end, 22 to do!!) On the other side of the pic, i am getting a pic of the two of us as babies..... so one side of the table will be like ahhhh werent they cute, and on the other side, what people know us for, drinking and having a laugh!! Hopefully get everyone talking on the tables

Do you both support the same rugby team? Can you name your tables after their best players, similar to NB? A friend of ours named his tables after each player in Aston Villa's 1982 European Cup winning team! The wedding had no other sport related theme though, so cant see any reason why you couldnt have a rugby theme.

We are having numbered tables but on the table cards there will be pictures of us as children. The more embarrasing the better!

I've got 22 tables too! 10 round ones seating 8 people, 11 seating 6 people, plus 10 on the top table. We're just having table numbers I think - we hadn't even thought of naming the tables...I'm not very good like that.

We're also having a sports influence.

My OH is a Spurs fan so we're having spurs legends and the idea is to find a old picture, back in their prime, then have their name in fancy script. That way it still fits our vintagey theme but OH gets his bit too. The only other sports bit we're having is a cake topper, i'm getting one made of me and OH with the Spurs chirpy. ?

We are going to New York for our honeymoon, instead of the obvious - landmarks, we are having movies that were filmed in New York, with the location, and then a bit explaining which scene that location was featured in. It doesn't really fit with the rest of our wedding as such, but we are making the name cards to match the other stationary and fit in with the colour scheme.

    We're having local landmarks.

    House in the clouds

    Aldeburgh shell

    The Mere

    The dolphin pub.

    Framlingham Castle

etc it doesn't have to fit with the rest of the day x

We're having Spurs players. OH is a season ticket holder. There have been arguments between the guests over which table they're sitting on. All the ladies want to be on the Ginola table.............. Oh, and we've put OH's aunts, who are Arsenal supporters, on the Nayim table!

Thanks for all your replies ladies, you all have such lovely ideas for your tables

Yes OH and I both support the same team, we've been discussing it again tonight and we're both really keen to include rugby in the day somewhere and this seems like the best way to do it. I was just worrying that it would seem odd when put together with everything else, but you've all made me feel a lot happier about it. Thanks again xxx
