Table numbers/names

millymolly83, 27 August, 2008 at 16:22 Posted on Planning 0 32

Is everyone having the standard numbers for their tables or is anyone having anything different?

Me and my H2b have a sweet tooth, so where thinking of having the tables named after our favourite sweets, then having a bowl of those sweets on the table

We're thinking about having varieties of wheat as our tables names. I'm going to have wheat in my flowers too. It's not as daft as it first sounds as H2B is a farmer so it sort of makes sense. However, we haven't decided which varieties to use yet, as obviously it depends on how many tables we need but we have a few we like which include Chablis, Belvoir, and my personal favourite Xi 19 []

My colours are purple and silver. The purple is the same as the wrapper around cadburys chocolate so we are having a chocolate themed wedding.

Each table will be a different chocolate i.e. fruit and nut, caramel, flake, crunchie, creme egg (if we can get it in November) - hopefully we will think of enough for 13 tables! Then on each table we are hoping to have a bowl in the middle with mini versions of that chocolate for ppl to eat.

I wanted numbers because I think names are heinously pointless and twee. My mother ovverruled me in the last week (but which point I was too broken and downtrodden to argue any more) and we had teh names of islands. It's my second biggest regret about the wedding, my first being the wedding.

Yes, my increasingly failing marriage is really hilarious.

(although if you don't laugh you'd cry I guess. ?)

If it's any consolation at least I now can't solely blame my failed marriage on lack of table names.

    Hi

I am getting married on 4th October and we are having our celebration in a marquee for 220. There are 22 tables each named with a sweetie. We are on The Ambassadors Table as we will have the ferrero rocher (spelling dodgy probably) in a bowl in the middle of the table instead of favours. The rest of the tables are ye old favourites, we have wham bars, vanilla fudge, fruit salad, skull crushers, parma violets etc. The kids who come to the wedding will have a present for them to play with during our speeches but no favours for anyone else, they have a bowl of sweets to munch through. A trip to macro got me 22 boxes of different sweets for £120 and the 22 bowls at asda cost £33. Plus every person i get to speak to i can have a wee nibble of different sweets! My sweet tooth is awful.

My sister did the same in July 05 and it went down so well.

    Sx

We had the names of our grandparents. Between us we only have one grandparent still alive, so we thought this was a nice way to include them.

We had musical instrument names for ours and pictures of them on the tables,

Music was what brought us together in the first place.

I'm having numbers 1 to six - which I used to think was boring, but now I think not - numbers are so retro don't you know!!!!

Avoiding the pressure from other areas by reminding them if they want names they'd better bl***y well write them out now - we get married in 9 days, so put up or shut up!!

    I'm having numbers too.

If you have Names then I think you have to try and go with a theme to bring it all together.

I'm sticking to just bringing the colours together that way I feel I,m getting more choice on what to put on tables/favours n such......thats enough work for me!

I'm sticking with numbers but instead of 1, 2, 3 etc we're using the numbers of motoGP riders (slightly bike obsessed in our house!) So 46 (the number of the legendary valentino rossi) will be our table number, will put my spanish family on a table with the number of a spanish rider etc etc...

H2B likes to surf, so we are going to name the tables after good surfing beaches. Haven't decide which ones yet but a couple of cornwall ones will be Watergate Bay & Fistral.

    Hi there.

I like table names - it's a talking point at least. In this months (Oct/Nov 2008) issue of cosmopolitan bride, one couple used retro sweets as their table names e.g. flying saucers, gobstoppers, sour balls, hubba bubba, fizzy fish, black jacks, dib-dabs etc. confetti sell little jars filled with dolly mixtures which are sold as favours - they look cute.

Hope that helps. Not sure what names we are going for. Wedding is on Dec 18th - h2b has jokingly suggested reindeer names - god, at least I hope he was joking! LOL

We had the names of places we have lived. it was S's idea. to be honest, i wasn't bothered about it, i'd have been just as happy about numbers.

it wasn't a conversation starter either.
