I'd recommend a look through Pinterest! I've seem Frames with maps in and brown tags hanging on pins with the names on them. The pins were on countries the couple had been together as they loved travelling. That looked pretty cool!

Thanks I've trawled Pinterest so much I think I've got a bit confused!

we have an easel to put the table plan on but don't actually know what to make and how to make it - a giant piece of card will probably be too flimsy and a bit boring.

    It's a country garden wedding.

Looking for some real life inspiration that DIY specialists haven't knocked up for a Pinterest photoshoot Smiley smile

I can't flash mine yet as I'm waiting for it to come from the printer but when they do and I've mounted them I will post a pic - hopefully in the next week. Basically I've produced a chalkboard effect poster which I'm then mounting in a large ornate frame. The poster will cost around £10 for printing and purchasing of some graphics. The frame was a freebie off our local free to a good home site. I painted it in off white and it looks lovely - doing one for the seating plan and then another for a take a seat not a side board.

You can see the table plan here

I have tidied up since then but it's basically the same.

This was my DIY effort. The frame was from The Range and cost about £10. I will re-use this so it's not just a wedding cost. I got a poster from Vistaprint for the backing design but you could use plain card. The black card I glued on the ribbon making a dior bow and then added the same embellishments from my DIY invites. Then I printed the table plan on silver paper. Then I sat and stuck on a gazillion crystals.

It depends on what your 'theme' is for the rest of your stationary as it is usual for your table plan to match in. If you look on the hitched award tab you will see a stationary award thread and DIY thread where people have posted theirs. There are some a lot more unusual than mine but mine was a glam black tie theme so it suited me.

A good cost effective way is to do what cinnamon009 has done and make it out of something that you can then use in your house afterwards, like this mirror

And before you buy an easel its worth asking the venue if they have anything first.

Sorry to hijack but how big is your frame and would you be willing to sell it on? I'm in leeds but quite often in the Newcastle area too?

I'm planning to use a mirror I already have and do one of these two things. Should cost no more than a few pounds.

This is what I want to do! But I'm struggling to find a mirror big enough that doesn't cost a lot!

I am using a photo frame which was £6 from The Range! I have then got the lady that printed my invites to print a matching card for each table to go in the frame, which was about £1.50 each I think. But they could be hand written on nice card, or printed yourself, which would save even more!

I used an old office notice board which was already covered in hessian in one side, bought some random picture frames from charity shops & printed table plans on brown parcel paper!

We struggled for ages to think of a nice idea for a table plan, then decided not to have one at all! The ushers and bridesmaids will be given a seating plan and escort our guests to their seats instead. We felt it was more personal and informal and saves us cash Smiley smile
