Table Plans...flash me!

Mrs C, 8 February, 2011 at 22:25 Posted on Planning 0 28

I am trying to design my table plan... I want to use photos to match the table names and we are using destinations on our honeymoon (Kuramathi, Colombo, Sigyria, Pinnawela etc.)

Have seen a few styles that I like... (images borrowed from google!) but am looking for more inspiration...

Any ideas???

I like the idea of an atlas, put landscape, and instead of those luggage tags, make mini postcards with the guests names and photos of the country......

Or keep the photos for the table and have mini passports with the guests names in the right destination??

    umm...

I really like the map idea, it looks great and it will be a good coversation starter and will let the guests know a little more about what your up to on your honeymoon!

I really like the map idea. If you had a large map of Thiland (sp) with all the various stops you are making marked out. Then as someone else said you could use the pictures to incorprate the table numbers.

The map is great. I have done something similar before.

I would use the country you are visiting as the backdrop (even a photo of the island would look good) and thenpassports for the tables with a stamp or image of the actual place on one side and then the guests names on the other.

    Would definitely start conversation.

Let me know if you need any help.

    Nat

I love the map one too. I've found this one, it's a bit similar to the one you've got though.

Is it easy to get a large scale map?

I would need both Sri Lanka and the Maldives... I could paint the map onto a canvas??

I'm sure GeordieBarbie had something similar, like postcards maybe? Hopefully she'll be along to flash for you.

Ive brought original New York postcards (from ebay!) which are of all famous landmarks or streets and im thinking of doing the map idea, with either the subway or a map of manhattan - although im making it more complicated because my theme is vintage and the postcards are from the 1940's, im trying to find a map to match this!

Where have you looked? ive found lots of pictures online but im guessing because of the size the resolution just wont be good at all...

part-time lurker but lurking at the right time it seems! ?

I made my table names postcard style (used a photo of the place for a stamp and made my own postage mark) and then stuck them on a pinboard. I'd planned to leave it at that but Mr GB said pinboards are usually full of random things so we raided our holiday photos (not all nevessarily the destinations we'd chosen) and stuck them on too.

And it's currently hanging in our downstairs loo! ?

Steal away! ? Very cheap - just got a cheapo pinboard from Tesco.

I made the postmark in PowerPoint - I also added some wavy lines over the top.

And it makes a fabulous toilet decoration ?

Our tour guide was constantly correcting us when we went to Sri Lanka...it was so annoying. How do they expect people to pronounce names with a million letters in them!

    Ok....been brainstorming!

What do we think to postcards on a board for the table plan...

Oversized postcards for the table names with detail about where they are and when we will be visiting on the back...

    Boarding passes for place settings...

And a single british passport on each table for the menu...

    ???

    Inspirational pictures.......

Your thread inspired me to create a travel theme wedding stationery collection for my next wedding fayre so once I've got my site up and running and I'm officially a supplier I'll post some pics. I managed to find a mirror with a New York skyline printed onto it so I plan on using this for the table plan and maybe doing the post card idea too.

I love the most recent flash youve done Mrs C, particularly the passport and stamps.

Only other idea (which is stemmed from mine) is luggage tags stamped with the different places or subway tickets as the place name settings. We are going to new york and doing something on the lines of this....using ribbon to tie them like the bottom picture!

Me too, im sure there is something for all the Sri Lanka places you will be visiting - im hoping to remake these ideas myself in photoshop rather than buy - purely because i searched for HOURS one night with no luck at all!

How did you find the stamps? Are you planning to just attach the picture from google? I hadn't thought of that, i could attach them to my postcards...?! I must do a flash of them soon actually, they were an absolute bargain and are beautiful black and white originals!

I am planning to photoshop everything too!!! That way I can also use the fonts that I have on the invites and the same colours etc....

I googled Sri Lanka stamps!!! Have some Maldivan ones too. I will probably print them separately and then glue them on like a real stamp.

Am going to borrow GB's idea of the personalised postmark as well. There are a few "postmark" fonts that you can download...

*off to google postcard fonts now!*
