Tacky or not...

GeordieBarbie, 5 November, 2009 at 12:49 Posted on Planning 0 7

I can't decide - though i'm thinking probably tacky.

Just came across these place cards whilst looking for some on ebay. My room is very elaborate (First Class Dining Saloon on board the SS Great Britain) and i'm going for minimal (i.e. none) decoration. There will be white table cloths and either a single gerbera flower in a test tube style vase (fuscia pink) or a fish bowl type arrangement with a floating gerbera head and grass.

Anyway - here it is... and that's my room...

    I say not tacky

If you aren't having loads of decoration on the tables then it will inject a little bit of colour.

WSS! I think if you had lots of decorations then it possibly would be tacky!

Out if interest...do they match your vases or are you going for different shades of pink?

I agree with the others, not tacky at all. Will be lovely against the white tablecloth and if you're having minimal decoration it will be fine!

No - planning on having clear glass vases.

Will see what D says - was thinking white for the classy approach - just came accross these and started to wonder...

    Tacky no....... cheap? perhaps.......

if I was having that venue then everything would be ivory/creams...its a gorgeous venue and I dont think the bright pink would suit but thats just my opinion. I know its your colour scheme. How about a pink base but the names on a paler card on top????

I agree. they don't look tacky to me but i'm not sure they go with the mood of the room. might look different with your centrepieces but again i don't think a pink gerbera goes, too modern for the style of room, i'd be inclined to go for something more classic. ivory, creams, golds that kind of thing.

I think you've just confirmed my wobbles! I didn't at all want any decoration really as I think it needs to look simple, elegant and minimal. I just came across them and though since I wasn't having decoration - could that be a bit of fun colour to add - but then I said I wanted minimal...

Thanks all! I do like them and for the right venue might have gone with it but not this time...
