Morning all
I went to TT at Wembley last night and needless to say it was a certainly a spectacular show. I'm off out in a mo so pictures will have to wait but I thought I'd answer a few questions about the practical side of things.
We got there at about 4.45 after the last 6 miles taking us an hour (North Circular and Hangar Lane Gyratory System - say no more). We ended up parked in the multi-storey car park. On going in to the stadium our bags were checked. Small bottles of water were allowed but they removed and kept the caps. I had a couple of small cartons of juice which were fine. There are two stages, the main stage and the 'B' stage - this is where the ballon in, with a walkway between the two. Even by 4.45 there was no chance of getting even close to the walkway or B stage which had been our plan. There were people sitting down over at least half of the standing area.
I was pleased though that there was lots of shade provided, and most of the standing area was in shade - it was the top right which wasn't (as you look at the plan above). Also from about blocks 104 clockwise to about block 116 were the only places in the sun at this point - with this 'sunny window' moving clockwise. So in actual fact, after being prepared with sun hat, sun block and cover up, I was never in the sun at all. Paid £6 for water and a hotdog while waiting. Other options were nachos, pizza or chicken dippers.
We managed to find a place on the 'pitch' about in line with the 121/122 gangway. At about 5.45 everyone stood up and moved forward - we were by 124/123 then. Gary Go was immediately forgettable, and James Morrison was OK.
There was a 'drinking water' sign by the gangway of 125/124 which we ended up in line with when people moved forward even more when TT came on - so we were about 10m from the main stage.
It was bloody hot, even in the shade, and the portable mini fan had with me was a god send. There was a big announcement that those standing could use spare pitch-side seats and there were a few deliberately left empty for this reason. A few girls around us had to go and sit down to get out of the heat. Every now and then there was a cool breeze which was lovely.
Programmes were £20, T-shirts (a huge selection) were £20, 25, or 30, necklace = £15 or keyring £12 I think. Postcards £5. Mini stress ball a few quid. Also umbrellas, red noses. I was going to get a stress ball thing at the end (I didn't actually see them, my friend said she'd seen them earlier) but the stand we looked at on our way back to the carpark didn't seem to have them - and my friend didn't want to queue up for too long to ask as she wanted to get back tothe car to miss the traffic.
As it happened it then took us 1h45 to get out the carpark! And booooo to the tossers who decided to end the evening with an altercation about letting people out of car parking spaces. Double booooo to those who sat in the queue with their engines running. And triple booooooo to the car who decided we all had to listen to their music......which was R&B sh!te and not even TT.
So, a little plea as well, if anyone is yet to go, and you get a chance to buy a stress ball thing (if such a thing exists and my friend wasn't mistaken) could you buy me one and post it to me - I'll pay of course, and for the package/posting.
Right, god, is that the time - I need to leave the house in about 5 mins...must get dressed.
Hope this info is of some use - you'll have a fabulous time. I'm a bit hoarse this morning from all the screaming!
