Talk to me about booze

gippdeer, 21 September, 2013 at 20:57 Posted on Planning 0 2

Our wedding is in my FIL's home. So it would feel odd and be wrong to then have a bar (cash) which means an open one (bloddy hell)

Even though FILs are paying there is no way we would have a 'bar' set up (especially in their house)

So questions:

In that set up would you tend to drink less/more?

We will have first drinks given out and wine on tables.

How do we do soft drinks or beer?

We will have staff so is it easiest if guests ask the waiters?

Lots of people would have port or whiskey during the night - get them to order or just have those things put out in some way?

I would definatley get them to ask the staff as in my experience people left to help themselves tend to help themselves to a little too much. It will also make sure your inlaws dont feel like they must stand in the kitchen in order to help guests get drink etc.

I personally would hire a mobile bar, or at least speak to them. You're going to need serving staff and people keeping it tucking over so even if you subsidise the bar it would probably be your easiest most appropriate solution. Do you mind my asking why you're so anti?

It just seems like it wouldnt feel or fit some how.

It's in their home. So does have a different feeling to having it at an 'venue'

Like people would feel odd coming to a home to the wedding and there being an actual (cash) bar
