Talk to me about i phones

Doughnut, 25 May, 2009 at 16:02 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 8

Apparently Scrabble on Facebook is now available on i phones, so I want one. I have been thinking about getting an I pod for years so I just went on e Bay to look at buying one and they're really, really expensive! When my mobile dies, every 3 or 4 years I guess, I just buy one on e Bay for about £40 or something, a Nokia one usually and stick my PAYG SiM card in it. If this doesn't work, a man in town with a mobile phone stand unlocks it for me and it works.

I have been on the Carphone warehouse website but they're only on O2 and they're ridiculously expensive on there too.

Can anyone help? Am I missing something? Are they just really expensive?!

Yes, they are expensive. Only available on O2 and would be surprised if you can unlock them. Good though!

Oh! I am so out of touch. How odd to only have them on one network. Probably best I don't get one, I play too much Scrabble as it is. Thanks for the info.

There was talk of them expanding to other networks but that was last Sept ish time and nothing has happened. I really would like one on my upgrade in August but I refuse to go back to 02...

I think the new i phone is due out over the summer and I think this is when it is going to be open up to other networks.

At best one more network but unlikely - o2 have done very well out of the exclusivity contract and this is expected to continue.

Doughnut - what about an ipod touch?

Not true - you can jailbreak them to use any network (if you buy second hand or the pay as you go version) but bear in mind that data charges may be expensive on other networks.

On the other hand, mine has quite literally changed my life. Okay, I might just have had a slightly sad life before, but honestly I'm finding it great.

I do a lot of commuting on the train for work and get home very late, so it's enabled me to get back in touch with people via email or facebook with whom I'd lost touch.

I've been playing with the brain training apps and this has honestly made a difference in my job.

I have the Relax app that I play at night through a pillow speaker (a slim speaker that goes, er, under my pillow) that gets me to sleep when I'm having one of my moments.

I've taken up painting as a hobby and I've got lots of ideas that I've collected from the web saved in the photo album to inspire me / cheer me up.

I really love mine :o) (I'm not saying that the iphone is the only thing that would allow me to do the above, but it's the thing I've got and it's great).
