Talk to me about veils...(sorry, but the search function isn't working)

Mellow_Yellow, 9 July, 2011 at 10:58 Posted on Planning 0 12

I would like a white cathedral length two-tier veil with scattered crystals and a 3/8" ribbon edge. It is also important to me that it is mine, I don't want to buy second hand.

My dress shop charges £385 for this, I'm looking to pay no more than £80.

Please talk to me about places you have got your veils. I don't care about delivery speed as I have plenty time. I care about the quality of the material, and how close to your requirements/expectations the finished product was...and of course, the price.

Thanks in advance!

I've also ordered my veil from this seller. I haven't received it yet but I've had some samples and other people have used her and been really satisfied that the quality is equal to any shop bought veil.

I'm waiting on a 2 tier finger tip length veil with thinly scattered crystals for £24.50. She's said to me too that if I'm not happy with it when I receive it that I can return it and she'll replace (she does this for all of them unless it's a custom length e.g. something random like half way between shoulder & elbow I guess).

She said it usually takes around 2 weeks for her to make a veil and her customer service is brilliant, - she's so helpful.

Thanks girls, I'll definitely drop her an email...any other suppliers? Has anyone tried the online veil shops?

I got mine from The Wedding Veil Shop online, and it's absolutely beautiful. I used the custom veil creator and got exactly what I wanted.

Just had a quick look and for the veil you described you're looking at around £85

My seamstress made mine for me, I bought my wedding dress and found a reputable seamstress to make the alterations (much cheaper than the shop) and she's making flowers to go on the dress and go in my hair and also made my veil. I'd ask around friends and family if they know of a good seamstress who makes wedding and bridesmaid dresses are veils are so easy for them, you can also see them and decide with her what you'd like and would be a fraction of what the shops would charge. I had an elbow length (wide width) centre gathered veil with swarvoski crystal edging, comb and hanger for £80 and was beautiful x

Do you have the web link for the one that you used? As there are many out there with similar names, and I would hate to order from the wrong one.

I got mine from Veils Online (www.veilsonline.co.uk) Lyn was lovely and gave loads of advice about what would go with my dress. I got a single tier, soft ivroy veil, fingertip length with double spaced crystals along the edge. She sent me some brillitn samples, all the colours and materials, all edges and all crystals / dimantes/pearl accents.

Well worth a look. Mine came to £40 plus P+P which was £3.99.

LOVE mine and would defo recommend.

I tried on the most stunning veil with a dress I'm more than likely to be buying which was 2 tier, floor length with a lace trim. They were selling it off for £65 because it was a sample piece and the last one as had been discontinued. The original price was £280!

I was all set to buy it but found 2 holes in it. THey offered to sell it me for £30 which I know is an absolute bargain, but the seamstress thought it was irrepairable. I hadn't noticed the holes until fine inspection of it. They've put it on hold for me to have a think about but dono't know what to do ?

Taking my mom with me to have a look but I'm just worried that if I know it's there then it will stress me out. At the same time I can't afford to pay £280 for a veil

I got mine from UK Wedding Veils... you build your own (or can buy "standard" ones)... they were very reasonably priced, well packaged and delivery was excellent. The quality was amazing- really soft tulle.

    Highly recommend.
