Talking of hen nights...

Weather Girl, 28 January, 2009 at 12:59 Posted on Planning 0 27

What are you doing/what did you do for yours?

I'm trying to come up with some ideas. I'm not really into the whole clubbing scene and was thinking about maybe staying local to where we live and having a spa afternoon followed by a nice meal and a few cocktails. We're getting married in October so would probably arrange something for August.

A few people family wise have said to me I might not like a spa day and that I'll be bored (sounds like bliss to me!!) and that if we went to a hotel at least those who didn't want to do the spa thing could do something else. To me, that kinda defeats the point in going...anyhow, if I'm not careful this post will turn into me having a moan (already feeling like I'm planning this whole wedding thing for everyone else and not me ?).

If anyone can give me some inspiration that'd be great - at the end of the day I just want something where we can chill out, relax, enjoy some champagne and just have a giggle really. Don't mind travelling within reason (we're in Cambs).

    Hey hon

The way I see it's your hen party and if you want to go for a spa then go for it! Having said that I have just booked Damiana's hen party and won't tell her what we are doing - but have picked a lovely range of things to keep her entertained throughout the day, that guests can opt in and out of- I won't say more on here in case she sees but if you want details PM me.

A good place to start is looking at some of the websites for ideas, I found lastnightoffreedom.co.uk and chillisauce.com very helpful as they do build your own options.

I have booked a converted gothic church to stay in for the weekend. The place looks amazing and has a BBQ and hot tub in the garden. I originally wasn't very keen on having a hen do and didn't want to go to packed bars and clubs nor be rushing around doing a load of daytime activities. This suits me perfectly, we can just chill out, relax and have a massive BBQ party in the evening.

I'm having a hollywood glamour one, we're going to mixology lessons (Learning how to make cocktails), having a meal and then heading to a pub with a dancefloor so not a club as such!

I had a weekend in London (we are in Scotland) and went to see Dirty Dancing. Had dinner out and then drinks. The next day we did the open bus tour which was a great laugh and then again went out for a lovely meal and then out to pubs etc.

I have also been for a spa weekend for another friends hen night. We went to the Hilton in Newcaslte and spent the day. It wasnt expensive to just use the spa facilities and get lunch (about £20pp I think) but most hens booked a treatment and they were about £50-£60 each so that bumped the price up. It wasnt boring as there were about 15 of us so lots of people to chat to!

My bm's are organising mine so don't know what is being planned at all.

If you want to go to a spa for the day go for it! I went to one for my friends hen do and it was fantastic. Other things I have done on hen do's is a photo shoot (not my thing but was fun all the same) and see a show.

I went to Lonon to see dirty dancing too, it was brilliant. We had champagne on the train on the way (everyone else loved that!!), then the afternoon in covent garden and pubs, early dinner and the show. About 6 of us went to the Carwashcub after that too, so all dressed in 70's gear!! Next day we went on a powerboat tour of the Thames, and got soaked, but it was great.

You shuold do what YOU want to do. Having mine in London meant a lot of people couldn't make it, but we also had a very quiet dinner out in Norwich too.

I have rented a big house in the Lake district for 2 nights.

Fri night - arrive, night in with wine and takeaway/something we cook - people can get to know each other.

Sat morning/afternoon - climb a fell and swim in a tarn (in April ? - I wont make them all swim) - or bad weather alternative .... erm - dunno!

Sat night - meal and drinks out

Sunday morning - head home via 'go ape'

If I knew I'd tell you!

My mum and 2 of my briodesmaids are organising mine, and I've just ask that it includes mud but not a mud pack at a health spa. H2B's brother (best man) is felling the pressue to make sure the stag or more adventurous/dangerous than my hen!

Hiya, my CBM booked mine today. We are hiring a cottage near York for the weekend. Going to arrive Friday night and have a girly pajama party with drinks and party food and then into York on the Sat night. Thats all I'm allowed to know, which makes me very worried, but really excited for it.

    Hi

I don;t know much about mine, but its in Brighton, with about 10 girlfriends and my mum and MIL, I know we are going to a club called stick it on in the evening - where everyone can do a slot and put a couple of tracks on, can't wait.

I agree with the others your hen night should be your idea of heaven with your bestest mates - enjoy whatever you end up doing ;-)

I too am considering a spa day for my hen do - getting pampered with all my girly mates sounds like a great hen do to me and definitely preferable to being dragged round a load of clubs wearing "L" plates and a veil!!!! Other ideas are a treasure hunt (there's a company i found on the net, i think called adventure connections, that will organise it all for you in whichever city you choose) or maybe a chocolate making day..... you get to hand-make your own box of chocs each whilst drinking champagne the whole time... mmm mmm

I went to Brighton for 2 nights - bingo and meal on Friday evening, pole dancing class and walks on the beach on Saturday day, meal and club Sat night. Was the best weekend ever.

I'd say definitely do what's right for you - my BM organised mine and at first she suggested a comedy club on the Friday. although they can be fun I felt bingo was more me!

Am organising my own (control freak) - am going to stay in my family flat in brighton with all my mates for a weekend.

Sorry to crash but those of you who had their hens in Brighton/live in Brighton recommend some good but essentially cheesy clubs in Brighton - and any nice cocktail bars?

There is a really good club under the arches on the seafront. The name escapes me now but they have club night called Pop Music. It's not your typical tacky nightclub, it's a bit more individual but they played great cheese and had a drag Amy Winehouse act.

SG - sorry, the club we went to was brilliant but not cheesy. It's called the Funky Fish and it prides itself on not being your typical cheesy club. It's a fab atmosphere and music though, and really popular with hen parties.

A friend of mine had a day of shopping/spa day with 6 friends and then a meal and a night out on another weekend. so everyone was catered for.

I cant be bothered with a henny, my 35th birthday seems more exciting to me than a hen which shocked a few friends. At the mo its a picnic/bbq on a beach or summin but i'd also settle for a house do but we need to buy a bigger house first! Even OH cant be bothered with a stag night... what a dull couple we are.. I think I'd even like a mixed night..... him and me....
