Talking Turkey & WWYD

Dumpling, 5 December, 2008 at 11:51 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 4

Hiya

I've been given the task of organising the festive Turkey! The farm I wanted to order from has all sold out and, at the moment, I have two other choices ...

Local butcher - free range Norfolk Black, fairly pricey but we've bought from there before and turkey is good.

Not so local - free range organic (not sure of the breed), slightly more pricey but only slightly more but there is the transport issue.

So - WWYD and does anyone have any recommendations for turkeys in Leicestershire that are at least free range.

Cheers

Karen

We're getting a free range norfolk black from our local butcher as the farm near us is sold out too. We're also getting our other meat for that time from him too so it saves a lot of trips and fighting in the supermarket. I would go for the first option to be honest as if you're like me, you won't want any more rushing around and travelling at that time.

I am somewhat disappointed, I had hoped you had found a talking turkey and weren't sure what to do next. I had visions of you going on Britain's got talent.

If I could manage the extra journey for the organic one, I think I'd go for that. But then we eat mainly organic meat, so organic is always the first choice in our house.

But if going for the less local one is going to be too much of a pain, then order the one from the butcher. It is free range.

If only - that would have sorted the Christmas entertainment a treat!

Very many thanks to both of you for your input - I think I might go local.

I would go for local butcher. You wouldn't have to travel, it cost less, you've had it before and you are giving much needed support to local shops. ?

I think you're right - I think it's the idea of trekking off through deepest darkest Rutland that clinched it for me.

    Cheers
