Tanning...?

Mrs.P.To.Be, 21 January, 2013 at 14:00 Posted on Planning 0 15

Hi all, so this is an odd question maybe but here goes...

I'm very pale. I mean, VERY pale. Wearing an ivory dress is obviosuly going to highlight this. So just wondering, have any other pale brides gone for any kind of tanning before the big day, or is anyone planning to? My big fear with spray tanning (having never had one) is whether it might rub off on the dress.

Anyone got any thoughts...?

I go on sunbeds and I know they are bad for you but I'm highly allergic to many cosmetics and we don't get enough sun in this country! Lol

maybe get one done before and see how it comes out, you could get a light shade so you don't look orange.

Ask around and see what you can get locally. Smiley smile

As a fellow very pale person, I get where you are coming from!

I'd suggest visiting a salon and getting some advice - I think you have to leave a day or two after having it done for it to settle into a more natural colour...I'd definitely trial it ahead of the wedding so you can see if it suits and if you like it against your dress!

    Hi,

Another paste-y white here! :-) OH loves me with a bit of fake tan, but not risking it, I've seen photos of brides with both a) obvious orange fake tans, b) tan rubbed off under the arms of their dress. So I'm opting with the I'm always like this, so thats how I'll be on the big day too (although I am planning on going to stand and tan for a few weeks before just to colour a little).

I'll be spray tanning. You can have different shades so work with your tanner to achieve the look you're after. They don't rub off either once the guide colour is washed off. I will then have a darker top-up done for HM!

I am so pale I'm practically albino, and my eyes are really dark, so without a bit of make-up I look a bit goth!

I just had my make-up done by a pro, and she made my skin look perfect. Be a proud, pale bride. English Rose.

I (like to think) look *classic* in my wedding photos, rather than orange/tanned/californian. One of my good friends on teh day said my skin really suits being a bride as I looked like I had porcelain skin (I think a good thing)

Although I am a big fan of a tan & use sunbeds (yes, yes, I know they're bad!!) I think you should embrace the pale!

It's rare that a fake tan looks natural on someone pale unless it is mega subtle, I'm a patchy pinky/yellowy manky skin tone hence why I tan & I tan easily too so it looks natural to me. At the end of the day you still want to look like you on your wedding day.

If you do go for fake tan d recommend St.Tropez cream application tan applied by a trained therapist. This is what I used when I used to run a beauty salon & it works with your natural skin tone to produce a natural tan- ie, a pale person won't go orange where as someone with darker natural skin tone would get a darker colour. It also smells more like perfume than fake tan.

Hi I'm a qualified spray tanner and would definitely recommend you have some trials first if you do decide to get a tan. Also if you are say getting married Saturday then have it Thursday evening (do the same for the trial, look at the results on the second day of washing it off). Although you will ultimately be thinking of your wedding day also think about what your doing the week following the wedding. If your going abroad a few days later don't forget you will have faded more on your hands and face just because you wash those parts of your body more but what I do is just get a moisturising lotion with tan included just to keep those parts topped up. If your staying at home then no need to worry. The only tan I have found that suits me (also being pale) is Nouvatan, have a search on the net or google and you will find lots of information about different solutions and products. If you get a trial wear some pale clothing the second day and see if the tan rubs off on to the clothes.

Don't forgot the wedding day is your day, you need to feel comfortable in your own skin and if you don't want to tan don't feel pressured.x

Don't do it!! the 1st thing a work colleague said to me when i arrived at her evening do was "look, my fake tan's come off on my dress" and showed me big orange patches! And I'm a huge ant-sunbed bod!

As a fellow paley i think it's best to stick to what u know - and how people know you! i think people would laugh if i suddenly rocked up with a fake tan cos it's just not me!

but it's whatever you're most comfortable with.

Thanks snow-woman, that's one massive thing I'd be terrified of if I did do it. The fearful side of me thinks it's just way too risky!
