Tans

ames2uk, 24 January, 2012 at 21:23 Posted on Planning 0 10

Hi Girls

I was having a think earlier - i'd love to have a bit of colour when i get married and I was thinking of going on a sunbed - how often would i need to go in advance to build up a slight colour (not much, just so i'm not dead white)? Presumably a couple times a week for 2-3 weeks beforehand should be ok?

Ideally I would like to fake it, but cos we're getting married in Vegas I don't think it would be an option as we are leaving on the Sunday and getting wed on the Weds, so the latest I could have the tan would be the saturday so i think it would start going patchy by the wedding date

Have any of you been on a sunbed? What are you planning on doing (if anything?)

    Hi Ames

I went to sunbed place last week and they seemed to think more than few weeks I've got 4 months to go and she said 1-2 a week god 6 mins then 1a week for 9 mins after I have a bit if colour. I suppose it depends on your skin??? X

I have to say i don't normally like sunbeds and do think it takes a good amount before i start seeing a noticeable change in my skin colour. However i don't think i want a fake tan as i am scared of seeing the tan lines and it rubbing off on my dress so have decided to go for the sunbed option myself. Think i will have to start soon though.

Personally, I am against sunbeds i have had a family member had a melanoma removed because of them, so will be slapping on my fake bake. Are you any good at doing the tan yourself? You could take a bottle of lotion over with you and do it on the monday, or even the saturday night so your not stressing when you go(everyone has their own preference and knows their own skin, but i use fake bake original lotion which doesnt start to go patchy on me until about 6 or 7 days as long as i exfoliate and moisturise). I would recommend with fake bake doing it at least 2 days before to make sure all the colour guide has rinsed off.

    xx

I have to say I'm against sunbeds in general but from a non-cancerous point of view it could be a bad idea if you don't usually go. The people in the shop can advise you on how long a session to have but if you got burnt a few weeks before then you couldn't go back on, and if you thought you were too pale a few days before then you might be tempted to have a longer session and end up regretting it.

Why don't you book into a salon in Vegas for a spray tan on the Monday morning?

I'm absolutely useless of putting it on myself, plus i don't really want fake tan on my dress - when we get back we are having a reception back here where i'm wearing my dress again so i don't want to worry too much about getting it dirty

Hi, i am a tan addict!! i fake tan now, but used to use sun bed years ago,, first you will be vegas, i really don't think you are going to be in short supply of salons to give you a great spray tan, you could even research a place over there, see what tan product they use, and then find a salon in the uk that does it, so you can have a trial run here first?? sounds like a lot of work, but sunbeds can make your skin really dry. As for sunbeds start 6 weeks before and go once a week for 2 weeks then twice a week for 2 weeks, then in the last 2 weeks aim for 2-3 depending on what colour you want to be and how your skin reacts.

Currently discussing this on the 2012 Brides Facebook and also OT.

I would say that if you're not happy with your skin as it is naturally then fake it, I wouldn't risk skin cancer for a tan.

What about a gradual tanner? I am using the Palmer's one now to see what its like, as everyone (MOH, Mum, bridesmaid) has said I should stay quite pale and natural rather than have fake tan. thought if I used a gradual tanner, I'd get a little bit of colour without being too dark and without the risk of it rubbing off on my dress! I'm trying it now to see what its like, after about 3-4 days I've got quite a nice colour without it being too OTT...

The fake bake lipo glow is a gradual tanner to builld up tanner, similar to the johnsons holiday tan except much more natural, lasts longer, and helps fight cellulite too! If i was tanning i woulk make sure i had it on at least 2 nights before, as fake bake that i use has a colour guide that can come off on clothes however once washed off i have had no problems, i have worn cream to wedding wearing FB and as long as i have had it on 2 nights before no amount of sweating etc will mark my clothes!! xx
