Tattoos on show? (**Flashy McFlasherson strikes again!!**)

Arquard, 30 September, 2010 at 11:32 Posted on Planning 0 45

My tattoo is in such a place that I can't really cover it up unless I have my hair down, which I don't want to do because it'd cover up the back of my dress and the beautiful necklace I'm having. As a very happy coincidence, the beading detail on the back of my dress looks a bit butterfly-ish, and my tattoo is a butterfly so I'm hoping it'll actually look really good. Anyway, I thought it would be nice to have a gallery of brides' tattoos and how they're incorporating them into the wedding ensemble.

Here's mine and the back of my dress:

I had little choice with mine unless I'd worn a jumper (given its a huge back piece)... it just was what it was (its now something different - had a total cover up started 2mths after I got married...!) so I didn't incorporate it at all - it was just 'there'...

I do know some brides will use cover up to hide a tattoo if its one they maybe don't like anymore, but I say they're part of you regardless, and I think I'd be quite offended if my tog offered to 'photoshop' it out!!

Your butterfly tattoo is lovely, and actually sits just right for your dress! Wear with pride!

I thought about having a knee-length dress to flash my calf tats! I'll have my arms on display tats'n'all. But I have one on my wrist that could only be covered by a long sleeve, so I couldn't really hide that one easily. I have an old faded thing on my shoulder that needs covering up before the big day, better start saving...

But I like the butterfly one - tasteful, and really fits with the dress too.

I have tattoos and have got a strapless dress for my wedding, Im not at all worried about them as they are a part of "me" and who I am.. to be honest if anyone was put off by them with regards to the wedding etc then they wouldnt be coming anyway.. all my family and friends all know I have them and love me for it.

The ones on my arms and back of neck will definately be seen in the dress Im wearing... xx

I initially thought that i'd want a dress with a fancy back to cover mine a little bit but just didn't like any, i'm a strapless girl through and through.

So then i thought i'll wear my hair down but so many styles i like are up.

So now i'm thinking sod it, everyone knows it's there, i don't try to hide it in RL so why on my wedding day.

It's still a work in progress, hope to get it all joined up before the wedding but here's a flash. (it's a bad picture, i look like a heffa, lol)

I have one in the same place and wore a strapless on the day , didnt really give it a second thought tbh, having said that i recently met a bride with a very similar tatt to yours and she decided to use some of those body diamantes (sorry dont know the right term ? ) and added them to parts off the butterfly and it looked fab!

I say show it with pride! ?

If you ask Ooh La La nicely (if she comes on here that is!!), she has a photo of my tatt on the day - my shoes framed it perfectly!

Thanks girls, it's still got quite a bit to be done to it yet, the black joining it up needs alot more added and i might extend it too.

The funny black thing at the bottom is a cover up that went wrong so eventually i'll have some laser on there to fade it then have something pretty on top to match the rest.

Really need to get it finished sharpish.

I have tattoos on both arms, back of my neck, my upper back and my chest that will be very much on show as well as my two lip rings lol. My tattoos on my lower back, legs and feet will be covered though haha.

As my mum said, I'm me and I should never have to change that, even on my wedding day ?

I'm an odd one. I'm tattooed but I don't want mine on show on my wedding day, I really don't like it Smiley sad Not sure what to do to 'hide' mine yet, I have both wrists tattooed. The one down my ankle wont be on show obviously.

I love my tattoo and will have it on show, in fact I glitter it up to make more of a feature. It always get so many compliments. Simple glitter gels pens will do it and trace the outline

Not the most flattering pic, but these are mine. Taken a week after having the larger one done which is why the japenese one looks so faded!- definately wont see them on the wedding day lol Although i am tempted with the idea of getting another on my wrist but doubt work would be too happy if i did lol

I dont have a pic of mine but I was planning on covering it up. I dont like it anymore but it does remind me of when I was younger.

But now you have me thinking with the glitter/diamonte idea! Love it!

Flesh tunnels, piercings, tattoos - whatever next?? Living in sin with someone before marriage? Hitched gurls are baaaaad!

Whoever it was who didn't want their wrist tatts showing, how about a couple of nice blingy cuff bracelets, or something? Not sure what your style is but some cuff bracelets are lovely!

I've tried a few on and they don't go anywhere near the tats as they are a bit higher than where bracelets/cuffs would sit. I may go down the tattoo make up route but I wanna know if it actually looks decent before buying it as it's quite expensive. I already have a bracelet which matches my necklace and earrings that my Mum bought me for the wedding too.

I'm not against tattoos (Obviously lol) but cat pawprints and a pink star and ribbon don't fit in with my vintage theme LOL

I have 6 all over, most of them are hidden unless I wear certain things.

These are the main ones that would be on show:

I'm not bothered about showing them, I love them, although my mum would prefer me to wear a veil clipped in my hair to take the emphasis away from the one on my back lol, she's never been a tattoo lover!! I especially love the rose one as it's two yellow roses, one for each of my grandmothers.

Have two on my thighs, one on my lower back and one on my ankle but they would be covered by my dress.

This is my latest one (for no other reason than I just got it done and love it!!) ?

Mine too, I'm getting some sparkly plugs to jazz them up a bit.

My half sleeve and tattoo on my neck will be on show, I didn't have them just to go and cover them up.

Haha, yep, I am totally addicted to Hello Kitty.

I am planning on getting them coloured in, was hoping to get them finished before the end of the year, but now it would seem I can't.
