taxi/ shuttle WWYD?

Gemicle, 13 August, 2012 at 23:19 Posted on Planning 0 5

Hello,

embarrassed to say this is the first post i've ever started, after nearly a year of hitching - i'm a dirty lurker lurkerson!

i have nearly everything planned for my December wedding, mens suits and cars are left hanging over me.

ANYWAY my question is would you put on a 'taxi service' between a local hotel (4 miles away/ 13 mins) and the venue? we decided we would ages ago as people could then leave their cars in the hotel car park and we could shuttle them to the venue and the back later. It would probably be a couple of 7 seaters. But now i think it's either a wedding car for me and my dad or the taxis.

My OH is still quite keen, but my MOH and dad thinks it's bonkers

Did you say on the invites that you would provide a shuttle? If yes then you really should honour it as your guests will be expecting a shuttle, if not forget your guests and get your wedding car! They'll be able to make their own way between venues - it's really not that far.

I have booked a 16 seater taxi for evening from 10pm to 1am as wedding in little village with no accomodation so guests will have to go back to nearest topwn, c15 mins. costing £265 which i thought was pretty reasonable.

Like Figs said unless yuo mentioned it in your invites so i really wouldn't worry, its much more important that you have transport between venues than the guests, wouldn't be much of a wedding without the bride! ?

If it isnt on invites then you dont need to provide it. most people will look at details of the day and decide what they wish to do with regards to get from one place to the other.

    Thanks guys,

I didn't put it in the invites, i mentioned it to a few close family members. I hadn't thought about it from a brides pov i guess, and I do want to have a car, not my little blue micra!

thanks for the prices too, at least I know the quotes i got are about right!

My venue & church are about 3 miles apart & we are not providing transport.

The way we looked at it was, if I was a guest at a wedding & thats all it was, I would happily get a taxi or drive

Theres enough expense with a wedding without providing transport for all you guests x
