Tea length dresses...

*MM3*, 6 September, 2013 at 21:23 Posted on Planning 0 27

So the more I see these the more I think they're the perfect dress for me and I really want one!
Is it possible to have one on a low budget..like £800 max, or is that too much of an ask?
Can anyone who's had/getting one flash me theirs please & give me a rough price of what i'll have to pay?
Also will most wedding shops near me have some in stock do you think or will I have to hunt them down online by certain designers like Maggie etc?

TIA x

Every shop I went to had at least a couple but you can always phone up first - maybe look online for ones you like and phone up to see who stocks them near you. I really thought I'd go for a tea length and tried on lots but didn't go for one in the end so it's still worth trying lots of styles in my opinion. I tried a couple on around the £800 mark and I'm sure I saw someone post a lovely tea length dress on here a few days ago that said it was £800 so I'm sure there must be some out there - and there's always samples or preloved dresses once you know what you like/what suits you

You will manage it easily with that budget. Try Simplicity.

Not sure what style you want but I have the top dress and it was £750, (Romantica) I tried on the other dress and it was £500. I found that most bridal shops do stock a few tea length dress's, although some had none at all. Coast do a few tea length styles. Joanne Fleming dress's are beautiful but not sure what the price range is, House of Mooshki also have some lovely designs.

You can easily get a tea-length dress for £800. Mori Lee, Mark Lesley, Lou Lou bridal all have them for that length or less. Don't rule out looking at BM dresses either as most can be made in ivory or white.

I tried this one on the other day - almost went for it too.

list price is abotu £700 I think - but the shop was willing to sell for £500 to get rid of it - it's a really small shop run from a esidential house, and she needs to get rid of it because all the petticoats are too big for her torage room..

    Thanks everyone!
Will definitely be prepared to try on lots of different styles as i know it might not flatter my shape although i'm praying it'll be fine and give me more motivation to lose weight before then haha!

Dreamcatchme - Will look online and phone around and hopefully make a few appointments, hopefully get shopping in the next couple of weeks..twice i've been meant to go and it's not happened haha Smiley sad

Mrsdsoon - thanks will try that..wish i could help with the flashing, it's the little film icon on laptop but not sure about ipad!
Kharv - yours was beautiful! really thought it'd have cost more than £1000! Will check out pre loved as well keep forgetting about that!

March14bride - ooh really love the top dress, beautiful and love the back detail! Thanks for sharing Smiley smile Like the sleeves on 2nd dress too like where they sit (don't know the proper name for these sleeves lol) March14 & icklefee will definitely check out those ones online too thanks & know there is Mori Lee stockists nearby so will hunt for them too.

£800 should be more then enough to get a stunning dress. I struggled to find bridal shops with more then one tea dress to try one, so after my initial visit to a bridal shop in which I tried on every style under the sun (including their one and only tea dress) i went to a local seamstress who eventually designed and made my dress... all for £680.

I loved wearing my dress... it was just so easy! And dancing in it was amazing ;-).

Ooh Ravioiliruby - that's one of the ones I had been looking at online, going to arrange trying it on!! I don't have a slim figure like your lovely self so slightly worried i'll be gutted at the look/fit but I love it. The neckline & lace detail is amazing I think!

That's a beautiful dress! Hadn't thought of going to a seamstress actually and that's an amazing price too! I had thought of the dancing and getting around factor and seems easier & comfier than the longer ones, specially when you're like me and not great in heels etc..can picture me tripping on my face haha! Thanks for sharing..lovely dress & really suited you Smiley smile

Mini I have to say I was waiting on you posting haha, absolutely love your dress and I've already showed my Mum your flashes saying it's the kind of dress I want. Love everything about it! Hoping to find one like it nearby and if not hoping I could maybe find someone willing to make one like it. The neckline is perfect I think and how it sits & everything, just love it!

I've shot weddings for brides with dresses that cost less than £200 so I'm gonna say that yes you will deffo be able to find a tea dress for less than £800. It's quite a vintage style, so perhaps some of the vintage shops will do'em? I'd check out high street bridals as well, I've seen a BEAUTIFUL dress from phase eight, was seriously impressed with how it looked for the price!

Thanks so much for all theflashes & advice / help. Found my dress unexpectedly the other day and just as I thought the tea length just didn't suit my body shape at all, found what I think is my perfect dress Smiley smile but I think your dresses are super beautiful and they will always be favourites of mine, thanks again everyone!
