Teal wedding colour

lucyluvy, 10 July, 2012 at 20:39 Posted on Planning 0 16

Evening

i've decided on my colour theme as teal but am struggling to find table decorations in the colour - i'm thinking of going with table crystals and maybe clear favour boxes with sweets in them and dressing them with teal ribbon. Was also thinking of having tag style name places with teal ribbon.

Anyone got any other ideas or recommendations for where they have bought teal things

thanks

    Hi!

My colour scheme is also teal! I have noticed there is a HUGE variation in the colour, which I guess is good having different shades of the same colour and gives you more choice. Have you searched on ebay? They have plenty of table crystals on there, also search for aqua and turquoise which are quite similar colours and would give you more search results! Have you come across a table runner in teal by any chance, seen some on ebay but they look a bit tacky!

I just did a quick search on Amazon and came up with the following:

    Teal poppies

Teal organza fabric - for chair sashes etc

    Teal balloons

    Teal car ribbon

    Teal nail varnish

You could make table runners yourself out of the organza?

We're having teal as well, since my friend chose that colour for her dress (I had no specific colours in mind so that was that!). I've got lots of teal ribbon from Hobbycraft to go round the cake and the flower jugs I've bought. As for the rest, I had a brainwave. Actually no, that's a lie, I mean I found inspiration in a magazine. Peacock feathers. I saw some stunning pics of flowers and peacock feathers tied with teal ribbon and it works SO well. So we had a peacock theme for the invitations, buttonholes/corsages will be roses with peacock feather eyes, and the florist has been asked to do any flowers she likes in "peacock feather colours", so purples, blues, greens etc.

The only things I need now, and can't find anywhere, are teal napkins and teal wedding car ribbons for my white campervan (although if OH's boss lets us borrow his Triumph Stag we can use white)

Look at my links above for teal car ribbon, and I did also see teal napkins on Amazon.

Thanks, that's useful. I really need the kits with the pull bows as well if possible and the one place that used to do teal can't get it anymore. I'm currently holding out for the Truimph, but if that's a no, I'll use that link, thank you.

I went for peacock blue (not quite teal), but I have a similar problem. Check out this site: http://www.cherlaan.com

I just bought my wedding post box from them and the lovely Rachel has been brilliant trying to match my colour swatch and butterflies for it Smiley surprise)

Despite my online name, I ended up with emerald green as my wedding colour, but wished it had been teal.

Our centrepieces were vases with that crystal accents powder where you add water & they swell to look like ice cubes. In the bottom of the vase I had a florylyte which is a water proof mini-light. Both of these come in a teal colour. Some pics for inspiration:

Thanks all - some great suggestions

I posted on someone elses comment the other day that i had found some 'ice cube' lights instead of the florylyte on ebay which i was thinking of using. The ones i found were in white, blue or pink though so i might have to look at these too.

Just to let you know i contacted a few of the companies and asked for some samples - some of them were very rude as if i was asking for all their stock for free and others were really understanding saying they fully understood the problem with teal as there are so many shades and offered me samples/swatches and all i had to pay was the postage (which is understandable). Another company on ebay does sample bags of their table crystals and then offers you a discount off your next purchase (and they have mixed size teal crystals on their website so as long as they are the right shade i think i will go with them)

I'll let you know how i get on Smiley smile

We're having teal too! It's a very hard colour as everyone has a different perception of it! When looking for decorations I found anything from turquoise to petrol to green under the name teal!

We are having teal & silver as it makes it a little easier when I can't find the right teal i things. I found some shops based in China on eBay that sell rose petals, 100 for 99p, and these are the perfect shade of teal for us, so we are having these and silver rose petals scattered on the tables. I also ordered some teal diamonds from eBay which were a really good shade of teal too but I decided against them.

The best advice I got was shortly after choosing the colour scheme and it's possibly been the best advice I've had since planning my wedding... don't get too caught up on everything matching perfectly, because it's not going to happen! If things are slight different shades noone will notice and it will still look beautiful. Our chair sashes are a bit darker than the bridesmaid dresses but it's not going to matter!

For favours, there's a lady that has a shop on eBay that's doing mine, and you can buy a sample for about a quid, they are little square chocolates with a personalised wrapper with your names and wedding date, and with the sample she sends out a colour card with so many different shades of every colour! And they are lovely. Before I found her we were going to use little silver favour boxes with a teal ribbon round them which is why we bought in the second colour!

Good luck finding everything, we sure did pick a tricky colour! xx

Thank you - i think thats the best advice re getting too hung up on matching colours!!!

I've got my sample bag of teal crystals and they look the perfect colour match however when i showed OH in a different room i wasnt so sure as the lighting and background really influences how the colours come out!

i think i'm going to buy a lot of stuff from this company as the lady i spoke to said to email her if i wanted more than one item and she would do me a custom order so pass on the postage saving, she also offered an additional discount if i spend £100 which i didnt think i would (but think i can now!).

At the moment i'm looking at the following items - let me know any thoughts Smiley smile

Well done on finding all that stuff, all looks lovely! From the look of the crystals we have the same shade of teal Smiley smile

I like the clear favour boxes, would be great if you could find some teal sugar coated chocs to go inside! They will look great though.

I can send you the link to my sashes if you like? They do customm orders, they have them listed under 50s, 100s etc but I messaged her for a price for 85 and that was fine!

    xx

Click on teal and that's them... they weren't as cheap as some I'd found on ebay but they were the best colour and they are gorgeous in the flesh xx

Love all these Teal ideas! I have decided to go with this colour but with a bit of yellow thrown in for good measure! Boys in grey I think ) although my M2B had his heart set on brown suits, I'm not sure if that will go though - we originally had a coffee cream idea but wondered if it might be too bland)

Anyhoo I was wondering what kind of flowers some of you are going for? I love the Peacock feathers but is anyone having fresh flowers? Also can anyone recommend some nice BM dresses in this colour around the £100 mark? I love the Dessy collections but when it says 'POA' for the cost my heart sinks a little so I don'tatually know how expensive these are.

Good luck to everyone - I have been a bit lazy about planning this wedding but you have just given me an inspirational kick in the ass!

    Thanks

    Hey Smiley smile

I got my bridesmaid dresses from Very.co.uk! I have 5 bridesmaids and didn't fancy paying the shop prices! They were £69 each (but I've just noticed they're in the sale! Smiley sad) here's the link... http://www.very.co.uk/mobile/holly-willoughby-jersey-bustier-maxi-dress/918492562.prd

They are gorgeous and perfect for a wedding... So make sure you have a look in fashion shops as well as the wedding shops - you can get a real bargain!

Flowers wise were having ivory and very pale pink, haven't been yet but going next week, I've seen a photo of what I want though! I'll try and upload it to give you an idea but I'm on my phone so not sure it's going to work...

Hope this has given you some inspiration!

    Hi,

I'm hoping someone can inspire me! We're having teal as our theme next year. I had ordered 3 bm dresses online (I went down the china route!) purely because they were the ones I'd seen and liked. However, they're nice dresses but I'm not sure I like the colour 100%. Obviously I've been finding massive colour variations with teal in that everywhere you look it comes out completely different! Am now thinking about different BM dresses. Where did you lovely hitchers get your bm dresses from? Flashes would be much appreciated too!

How expensive do you think it would be getting them made by a dressmaker? That's the other thing I was considering if I can't find any I like in a shade I like.
