Techie Help Wanted Please!

MrsToffee, 30 May, 2014 at 22:10 Posted on Planning 0 7

I found some really nice favours on notonthehighstreet which are badges with slogans like "Team Bride", they were lovely but even with the bespoke option they do I couldn't get exactly what I wanted. So I had the bright idea of designing some myself, I went in all gung-ho as I often do and spent ages making them on Word, downloading nice fonts and stuff and now I've come up against two problems and wondering if anyone can help?

1. I wanted our names and the date of the wedding in arches at the top and bottom of the badge but cant do this on Word (word art doesn't seem to work for the size I need)

2. (The bigger problem) When I looked at custom badge websites they all say to submit the image you want in a jpeg format and suggest designing it on Photoshop. They will sometimes take it as Word but if fonts aren't 'normal' they may have trouble actually doing it. One website said they'd take pdf so I converted the file to pdf but all the fonts changed.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

Hmmm... I am not particularly hot on this kind of thing but I have a feeling you can output a Word doc as a jpeg. That would solve the pdf problem. See what the options are in "save as"

Give this site a go to turn your jpg to pdf, if that doesn't work I could do it with photoshop for you.

I think you can output in Paint as Jpeg if Word doesn't work

OK, managed to save the word file as a pdf and the fonts stayed the same then have converted it to jpeg but think I'd have to do some tweaking as currently have all badge designs on one document, would probably be better to have them separate. Anyway, thanks for everyones help with that part, half way there I think!

    Any ideas on problem 1?

You can also use this tool to convert jpg to pdf . It's perfectly reliable and absolutely free.
