    Screensize.

A notebook is smaller than a laptop; the latter normally has a screen (diameter) of 15", whereas a notebook is in the 12/13" range.

    (I think!)

So if it is listed as having a screen size of 15 something it is infact a laptop. Thats great as i want a laptop and have seen a good deal but it is listed as a notebook but screen size is 15.6" excellent. Thank you so is a notebook a netbook?

No, I believe a netbook to be something else again ... it's a device on which you only access the internet, rather than using it for Word and Excel and all the other applications/tasks.

Is small and portable, though, and quite low price, because it has (relatively) limited functionality compared to a PC in either laptop or notebook form.

That's a netbook. Arguably, the direction that portable (possibly all) computing will take in the future. Time will tell.

In any case, I'm currently advising anyone who's after a laptop/notebook/netbook to wait a year, unless it's a necessity.

I'm convinced the technology is going to change radically with the next generation of operating systems.

Sorry to bug you so a notebook does everything a laptop does its just smaller. Gosh it is so complicated and there is no way I am going to a place like pc world or currys to get these questions answered lol they will have me buying alsorts of stuff. It does say the screen size is 15.6" so thats a laptop.

    Correct, TP!

I've just bought my very own notebook (have always shared one with H, or had a work offering, before) so I've done a bit of research lately. Mine is a Hewlett Packard and I'm really pleased with it.

Good luck! Avoid PCW if you can, I think they're expensive and not that great on service.
