It wrecks. Are you doing a home treatment? Start now with a Sensodyne protective toothpaste, an enamel-building jobbie. Go for short bursts of bleaching, rather than overnights. Take a painkiller.

Not sure what to do yet, just started looking into it today.

I see groupon have something that is LED based. I'm guessing that would be rubbish ??

Not necessarily, LED simply indicates which type of light they use to activate the bleach. There's a move towards lower energy light sources as higher ones (UV etc) can damage surrounding gum tissue.

This DOES sound like a one-off treatment in the dentist's chair (make sure it's a dentist, never go to a beauty therapist for this). I gather they can hurt more than the more gentle "at home" process. If you don't have particularly sensitive teeth, you might be fine - some people get on great with bleaching, some can't stand it.

I went for a LED based teeth whitening thing despite footlong's assurance that it would be painful. I had to quit one third of the way in to the treatment and so the results weren't great, I was also in unbearable pain for hours...ibuprofen and paracetamol combined wasn't enough to stop it and I couldn't bear to eat or drink all night and so was incredibly hungry and thirsty.

You also need to stick to a white diet for 48 hours, so if you do go for it then factor that in to your weekend as we were severly limited on food and drink options.

I had mine whitened via LED before the wedding - a one off treatment. I have really sensitive teeth & gums but actually got on great with it - they put a barrier on your gums so they are protected.

    Would definately recommend it.
