Tesco delivery

Does anyone use this? How have you found it?

I ordered something with them years ago and the guy never showed up (he called me an hour late- at about 10pm- to say he wasn't going to make it and gave the distinct impression he was in the pub ?)

At the moment I use Ocado but am getting a bit fed up with them- they're often late which makes the one hour slots a bit of a nonsense, and I resent paying over the odds for a poor service.

I use Tesco and Ocado, depending on who's given me discount vouchers that week!

Tesco are fine. They've only been late once. The 2 hour delivery slots are annoying, but not desperately so. They always carry the shopping in and deposit it where i want it to be, and they take back bags for recycling if you ask them to. Their delivery is much more expensive than Ocado, though. I usually manage to get an ocado delivery slot for less than £2 - often free- but Tesco are always £5 or over

This is the 3rd week I've used Tesco delivery and I've found them excellent so far. They've always been within the time slot (once they came 5 minutes early), they've not mucked anything up and last night was the first time I had any substitutions. They were sensible ones as well, in fact the bread rolls they substituted were cheaper than the ones I picked. I get the evening delivery slots which are either £3 or £3.50 and so far every week I've managed to find voucher codes that take at least £5 off - check the MSE boards for the latest ones.

I use Tesco delivery probably once a month when I'm doing a big shop as we don't have a store nearby. I've found the delivery guys very friendly and helpful. They walk the shopping into the kitchen and help unload the crates (I use the no carrier bag option to get Green points). They have never been late, although on one occassion on a 7pm-9pm slot they arrived at 8.59pm, which was a bit of a nightmare with kids and bedtime etc, but that was down to me not them.

    Thumbs up from me.

You can also use the money off vouchers even if you don't meet the minimum spend. You need to put additional items in your basket to take it up to the min amount, complete the check out process and enter the voucher number. Then just log back in and change your order taking the additional items off. They will still honour the voucher.

    Thanks everyone ?

Maybe I've just had an unlucky run- I find Ocado are late about half the time at the moment which is a bit of a pain. I do love Waitrose stuff though, sigh...

I phone them up every time and they generally give me a fiver off, which is great but I'd rather have the stuff on time.

Thinking about delivery costs, I think this might put me off Tesco a bit. With Ocado I pay £9 a month for unlimited deliveries which works out very cheap, given how many we get.

    Thanks everyone.

I think it entirely depends on your area and the local store. For us, Tesco have been much much better than Sainsbury's (sadly we don't have Ocado in Not London).

Yes I would agree with this. In some areas that I've lived in Tesco were great, always on time; not a lot of substitutions; no bruised fruit and damaged cartons for example but in other areas it's been crap service; arriving late; substituting value items for expensive items that I can't afford. You can get the expensive substitutions taken off but I'd still rather have my order in properly from the start.

You don't? Our Not London is just up the road and we do! ? Have you checked recently? We didn't have when we first moved.

I used Tesco once in London - they had run out and switched lots of stuff and the switches were fairly nonsensical - yes, you could refuse them but the delivery man looked really confused and wasn't at all helpfu. I'm sure that was just unlucky - we're very close to Tesco so no point trying it here though.

So does mine. I've prefered Ocado when we've used them but tesco isn't too bad.
