Thank you cards

Peaseblossom, 2 April, 2013 at 13:59 Posted on Planning 0 7

Hi Guys,

Just wondering what OMs went for with thank you cards? Did you get something with a photo, a few photos or none at all? I am thinking a photo or 2 but quite simple. I have seen a lot of swirly nonsense that I don't dig at all! Also I lot of the ones I have found have a message on them so you don't have to write? Now, I don't know about you guys but a lot of my family are quite traditional and would see this as a cop out!

I just want something quite plain, elegant and with room to write on...

    ?

I've got cards from vista! Folded ones so I can write inside, like you I find ones without a space to handwrite a bit impersonal. This is the picture I have on the front which is a few pics sewn together.

I also used Vista. I used a photo of the three of us (inc daughter).

Most people gave us money for gifts which we used towards some of our spending money on Honeymoon so I designed a postcard style thank you with some of our honeymoon snaps (on Vistaprint).

I much prefer thank you cards that have a personal message. Yes, they take longer but I love it when I receive a handwritten, personal thank you after a wedding.

We bought notecards from our church (where we were married) and wrote each one individually. They had a pretty line drawing of the church on and financially benefitted the church too - as well as being very easy for us.

I also went for Vistaprint. Folded cards with one photo of the two of us in front of the Harbour Bridge with one of their pre-designed thank you designs.

Took me ages and I'm embarassed about the delay in sending them out, but it was important to me to handwrite each one. I hate receiving generic pre-printed one-liner thank you cards.

Agree with knees - one of my good friends sent me a thank you card after their wedding, but basically wrote a generic "thank you" message in the card. It seemed really impersonal, and I kind of felt a little bugged by the fact that she didn't personalise it much (and I'm a close friend!)...I understand that she must've had about 100 of these to write but a little personalisation would've been nice, rather than just the same message for everyone. So just speaking from someone who's been on the receiving end of a thank you card...

Do the Vista ones come in glossy? (only on the front tho, not inside...)

I was really cheeky when it came to ordering mine and managed to get 40 free within the same order by getting horizontal and vertical ones of both the invites and the christmas cards.

Invites come with a matt finish but xmas cards come with a glossy. I've got some at home I'll flash you later - the thing to watch out for with my trick is they say vistaprint on the back so where I got vertical ones, the vistaprint thing comes up wonky (it'll make sense when I flash!!)
