The best advice I have received yet, as a bride

SillyWrong, 10 February, 2014 at 16:53 Posted on Planning 0 10

I have a 'Twide' (Twin Bride) ... a girl at work is getting married on the same day as me, we weren't massively close before but we email back and forth all day now.

I was having a whinge earlier about my wedding planner and then at the end acknowledged that I was sounding btchy - she wrote:

"Getting married is prime 'be a b*tch' territory, remember, nice girls finish last and its the law to have a few 'zilla moments. You're paying her, so her a*s is pretty much yours, so stick a boot up it. Silly cow!"

... sometimes all you need is the perspective of another Bride. And someone to make you laugh.

Obviously I don't know the situation and what has led to the moan about the wedding planner but I don't really agree with your colleagues sentiments I'm afraid.

I work in the service industry and I am so much more likely to go the extra mile for someone who is being nice to me than someone who is demanding or saying along the lines of "I pay your wages". When people are demanding I will do what I have to but won't give them anything extra.

You catch more flies with sugar than s**t, as they say.

Now don't get me wrong, I will find myself being a cow at times (especially to call centres ringing late) but I always feel bad knowing what it's like to be on the other side.

Sorry, don't mean to sound horrible, just my opinion ?

I'm afraid I disagree as well. Being a b***ch is highly unlikely to get the results you want. Although I now really want a twide!!!!

I think that if you are paying for a service and the service isn't being provided then a kick up the bum is perhaps what she needs... x

I don't agree with your friend to be honest. Nice girls might finish last but karmas is a b*tch and will come back around to bite demanding, rude and impolite people in the ass!

Hoping she just said it to make you laugh n cheer you up. I wouldn't be taking her advice (if it was serious advice!)

Wow, just wow. It baffles me that people actually think like this.

Sorry that things aren't going well with the wedding planner, but if I was you I would ignore your 'Twides' advice and have a polite discussion about where it's going wrong and how you can both work it out rather than being unreasonable about it.

I think a vast majority of you have entirely the wrong end of the stick. Yes it was a joke, a play on the bridezilla thing. I'm sorry I didn't make that clear enough.

No wedding planners were hurt during this process.

    Wow indeed.

Far too easy to do over the internet! Apologies for taking it literally rather than as the joke it was intended ?

I saw this as a joke, but I understand everyone's points. I think you have to get a balance really, not be too submissive and let people mess you about, remember it's a lot of money, but also not too much of a bridezilla either otherwise they will not like you and will be less willing to help. Love 'twide' :-)

Apologies for mis-understanding your post. It's so easy to do with any written communications as it's hard to put the tone across.

Hope you do manage to sort things out with your planner though.
