The biggest test of love ever?!

freckles87, 2 February, 2012 at 14:59 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 16

Yesterday, me and OH had a day off work so we tidied the flat from top to bottom (exciting I know!) and since then OH can't find his iPod which was on the coffee table before we started tidying. He has looked everywhere, and I've had a good look since I got in from work.

OH is now convinced that it has been thrown away (!) and has said that I need to go to the bin shed and check all of the bin bags just in case, as it will be dark when he finishes. Bearing in mind there is a light in there, so it doesn't really make a difference if it is dark when he goes down there. I feel guilty not doing it for him though!

So, who would go through the rubbish of 30+ other flats and then root through about 4 bags of rubbish to try and find it, and who would let him do it himself?!

Ha, I thought about telling him to do that but it's a 64gb iPod touch, so would be quite expensive to do that!

It's a tricky one because I know it it was the other way around, I would't even have to ask him and he would already be out there looking through the bin bags.

I'd look for him. I know he'd do the same for me.

I feel guilty so I'll probably end up looking. I've got a couple of friends coming round in a bit, might see if they'll help me ?

    I'm not THAT evil really!

My H isn't very good at looking for things. I remember when we tidied one day and i lost 2 brand new extension cables. H went and checked the bin for them when we realised they were missing, but he couldn't find them. We've now moved house and they still haven't appeared, so we're guessing that they must of been in the bin after all. - So i suppose if your OH is anything like my H then maybe if it's very important then you should look, otherwise i would leave it to him to look for it.

If he wanted to find it that much then he should look for himself. I am a ? I know! How about contents insurance, could he claim for a new one through that?

We threw all of our holiday money in the bin last christmas. We couldn't find it anywhere and went to look in the bins and it was there amongst all the wrapping paper! So I suppose it's quite possible that this could be in the bin too, knowing us!

I've just spoken to him on the phone, down to the bins I go - wish me luck!

    Hope it gets found!

My H would definitely do it for me, but he would never dream of asking me to go through bins for him!

So, I got down to the bins and they had been emptied, I was gutted! I came back upstairs determined to tear the flat apart until I found it. I emptied the wardrobe and as I was putting the stuff back in, I saw it on the bed! It must have been under a pile of ironing that OH had put on the bed before he went to work. He swore to me he'd checked the bed! But at least it's been found without me having to do a spot of bin dipping!

Glad you've found it! And at least you didn't have to rummage through the bins.

I'm not sure he would be escaping without some big grovelling! You could have been knee deep in stinking rubbish because he can't look after his things properly or search well!
