The Cambridge Diet

LauraJaneRush, 29 May, 2010 at 12:07 Posted on Beauty & Wellbeing 0 1

I am thinking of doing this? Has anyone any experience or advice?

I already have a personal trainer and doing well that side of it but would like to kick start the loss!

Thanks xx

    I did it.

And I would without doubt try to put anyone off doing this diet.

There is no doubt you lose weight on it if you follow it, theres no way you couldn't and yes you do lose it quickly which at the time feels fantatstic.

However from my experience and that of a few of my friends who have also followed it, that weight has gone back on and more. With all the best will in the world to follow the plan and gradually increase food intake in reality this is quite hard to do in the long term.

It has seriously messed with my metabolism and I resent the day I ever started it.

You can also suffer from hair loss, not usually immediately but later on.

I'm sorry if this isn't the answer you wanted but it is my honest opinion.

Eat less move more is the only way to go.x

I only did this for 3 weeks as a kick start to my weight loss & lost 8lbs. Not as much as I thought but it felt good to me. The reason I stopped was that I realised that I could substitute healthy food for the soups & shakes & still lose the same kind of weight. For me it also reminded me about drinking 2 litres of water a day (My OH was a bit annoyed that I drank this for the cambridge diet but not when he'd been saying it to me for ages before!) & other healthy food such as cottage cheese & picked cabbage (never eaten either before but now love them both). Don't think I've got the will power to do this for longer but I personally think it was good to kick start healthy eating. My sister did lighter life (similar to Cambridge with soups & shakes) & managed to lose 5 stone over 10 months but put it all on & more when she reintroduced proper food into her diet.

Doesn't sound like its great for long term but worked for a kick start as you wanted.
