The date is set! Now it begins!

eternallyme, 10 December, 2010 at 22:17 Posted on Planning 0 15

Hi there!

I just wanted to share with fellow B's2B that I booked the registrar today for our wedding on Saturday December 17th 2011! The venue was booked on Wednesday by my OH. Im going to start looking at dress idea's next weekend but im finding it really hard not to keep talking to my OH about dresses. Does anyone else have this problem? Although our wedding isn't going to be 'traditional' in many ways, i really dont want him to know about my dress. I think im still in that daydream phase at the moment as it doesnt seem real yet!

Anyway, thanks for reading...

X

Ooo, where are you getting married Kitty? Im getting maried in Langrish house near petersfield (hampshire). Im really hoping that if we get any snow it will just make the place look more beautiful rather than cause any problems! I'm interested to know what ideas you have for your winter wedding, ie. colour schemes, etc. Its all very exciting! Have you been planning long?

Ive been planning this day since I was about 6 so yeah a pretty long time ?

We decided in November but I already had pretty strong ideas aboutwhat I wanted. We are getting married in a Church even though neither of us are religious we just like the idea of the church all done up at christmas! We are having a small wedding (we prefer to call it intimate, haha) only 25 people so we are having a three course sit down meal and leaving pretty early to make the most of our 4* hotel on our wedding night!

Colour scheme is red, silver and charcoal with snowflakes. Men are wearing charcoal suits and silver waistcoats with red cravats and bridesmaids are wearing floor length red dresses with silver/white fur stoles and Im hoping my dress with be VERY sparkly!

Please note the above ideas are yet to become a reality! so far we have only booked and paid deposit for church and booked venue. Both of us now just want to enjoy the run up to christmas and properly get into wedding planning in the new year... theres also a small matter of OH having not proposed to me yet...

Sorry about the essay! Please feel free to write me an equally long one back! What ideas have you had so far?

    ?

LOL... dont worry, I like the essay! Im glad I found this forum as I feel that I can 'go on' about the wedding without irritating everyone!

Im the same as you.... been dreaming of the day since i was a little girl! We've been together 8 years and OH proposed on 11th Nov (finally) so i finally have 'permission' to realize my dreams. We're having a hotel wedding as I get easily stressed by people not getting to places on time so by having it all in one location I'll be able to relax more. Also our wedding is going to be a little bit alternative so the venue lends itself to that... I love historical buildings and although its not 'gothic' it is old and has atmosphere. My dress will be green (despite some of my family hoping that i will fall in love with a more traditional dress) and im thinking red, white and black as the other colours (OH will be wearing a black shirt as I find him sexy in black and he wears a lot of white shirts for work so we want to be more 'us'). I like the idea of fur stoles too, im thinking about having a velvet cloak for me. My dream dress is way too expensive so im considering having something similar made on a cheaper scale. Im also thinking about doing a little treasure hunt in the hotel for all the children as we will have the whole hotel to ourselves... I know everyone keeps saying to me that the day is all about 'us' but i see it differently... its us declaring our love forever infront of the people we love and I want them to have a magical day too!

We've got as far as you and are at the same stage... get Christmas over then start really looking and planning (although im hoping to get a few cheap bits in any xmas sales!

Please feel free to message me too... it will be nice to have a fellow b2b to share this journey with (and that includes all you other lovely B2b on here!)

Im the same with the dresses, i keep asking him 'what do you think of this one' or what kind of dress do you think id pick'. I know i shouldn't but just cant help it! Im going to go dress shopping straight after new year, i think ive done well to leave it this long ?

LOL, to people who aren't 'local' I too say portsmouth as most people havent heard of Waterlooville! We're basically going to have the hotel for the whole day and its going to be a very christmasy wedding. Im even thinking about getting a father christmas for the children (as I have a lot of kids in the family). Im kinda temped with a 'Narnia' wedding... love a good fairy tale and my sister in law and i are going to have a look at cake ideas (my mum is making the cake and Im going to help decorateit as Im quite good at that stuff). Ive been talking a long time about my wedding ideas so i dont want to disappoint people - I know I wont as it's going to be awesome... my main theme is friends and family having a blooming good time with great food and entertainment. Im not so worried about all the attention being on me... in fact i'd rather it wasnt. Its a shame that you can't consider langrish as a venue, I fell in love as soon as i walked through the door.

When's your big day? What plans have you got/

May see you around any some of the wedding fayres! :-)

Oooh lovely - I love Langrish House! Especially at Christmas, it's one of those places that you can make look amazing...I did a wedding there last Christmas with lots of twinkley fairy lights and it looked absolutely amazing. Good luck with all the planning!

A green dress? that sounds fantastic! I wish I could be brave and have a red dress but my mum just wouldnt allow it..(and we dont want to upset any more family members!)

A black shirt sounds lovely, its your day you should have it as you want!

Feel free to message me too!!!

Are you going to be doing much planning over christmas? we are leaving the rest of the plans until after christmas now. So now the venue is sorted what is the next step? Im kind of clueless about how it all comes together! haha its a little bit overwhelming!

PS I googled your venue and its looks soooo beautiful!

Welcome to Hitched. I was exactly the same as you for ages and nearly showed my hubby the dress but I managed to keep the secret. Look forward to hearing all about your plans and good luck dress shopping. x

Seems my wife might be a bit unusual - she was totally obsessive about not mentioning the dress in any way at all! I think she rather enjoyed the "can't mention anything" game...... ️?️

    Happy planning!
