The day after the wedding-Are you buying a new outfit?

sjbris, 4 September, 2012 at 15:54 Posted on Planning 0 35

Hi all

This may sound amazingly silly but a friend of mine recently asked me if id bought something new/smart for the day following the wedding! We are getting married in a hotel and lots of our friends and relations will be staying the night there so the plan is to meet for breakfast the following morning.

My friend suggested alot of other brides have bought something pretty to wear the following day-has anybody else done this?

xx

Id definitely like to, I always feel nice in new clothes and will feel doubly nice being newly married! Me and OH will be staying ina hotel by ourselves and will probably go for a walk down the river and lunch the next day so would be nice to have something to feel a bit special in. Plus anything I wear will feel dull compared to my dress!

I originally planned to, but then forgot all about it. Don't feel like I missed out at all, I was in too much of a daze and a bit hungover to appreciate it anyway.

I've bought us both new T shirts to wear the following morning which will raise a giggle...

    His is 'Under new management'

Mine is Mrs W******* in sparky writing!

I think if I was getting married in the summer I'd go for a nice summer dress for the morning after but we are on Oct 27th so probably jeans and our daft T shirts!

Hadn't even thought of it....If I see something nice in the run up I may by it and save it, but I don't think I'll go out of my way to buy something. I doubt I'll have much money left by the time pay for the wedding and honeymoon to treat myself anyway.

    Date Twin!

I think I am getting Mr & Mrs T-shirts for us. Or I may wear the white dress from my Hen Do (if I dont wreck it). Not overly sure though as October is not white dress weather and I think it may look silly with thick tights!

Exactly this! I also doubt I'd have time to go outfit shopping on top of everything else!

I bought a little white lace dress but that's because we had an organised brunch/drinks so I wanted to be smart. If I was just having breakfast in the hotel I'd probably just have worn a nice dress/top I already had.

I have bought a lovely floaty short bridal dress which I found in the sale in Monsoon for £22.50! Such a bargain who could resist. We are doing a BBQ at my mums the day after so wanted something nice to wear. Thought I could also wear this out to dinner on our honeymoon.

Not so much a new outfit but I live in Ugg boots, I have like 8 different pairs. Quite a few people have already commented that they wouldnt be surprised if I got married in Uggs under my dress (it crossed my mind) but it got me thinking and I have found some fake Uggs with 'Just married' on the back in sparkles and I plan to wear them down to breakfast the next morning! They are only 20quid so a bit of a laugh more than anything, I will probably wear them as slippers after!

When I was just a bridesmaid, not even the bride, I bought myself a new maxi dress, just because we was staying in the hotel as well and having breakfast together and I wanted to feel all girly and grown up Smiley smile

I'm definitely getting something new for the day after. I really like the idea of the 2nd wedding dress sort of thing, so will probably be a little white lace number with new boots (winter wedding). There are lots around at the moment so hoping to pick something up in the sales. I'm thinking a new handbag too Smiley smile

Yeah I think I'll treat myself to something new for my first day as a Mrs! even though we'll just be having a leisurely breakfast with family and friends before packing up and heading home, but we've got relatives from abroad coming that we rarely see so I'll definitely want to make the effort!

I'm thinking some sort of white/cream floaty summer dress for the morning after which I can then also take on honeymoon with me. I did see one I loved in jack willis but held off incase I see something else next spring/ summer that I like more. All this said probably the minute we get back to our house in the afternoon I shall be in my slobs on the sofa!

I was going to get a nice dress but then it occured to me that after breakfast, we're driving a few hours over to Wales for our mini moon and I didn't want to a) spend out on a new dress that is just going to get crumpled in the car and b) be uncomfortable on the journey. So I went with the Mrs D***** t shirt too, I just ordered the iron on diamante's from eBay and ironed them on plain vest top that I'll wear with a nice comfy cardi, jeans and pumps.

Yeah, completely agree. I really didn't care what I wore the day after when I woke up just threw on what I had bought to the hotel with me. We met four of our friends at the pub that morning and all felt a bit hungover.

I forgot my bag with my jeans etc in with all the rush and panic on the morning. I only had pyjamas and a pair of slippers!! I had to go down to breakfast, and travel home in them!! To be honest I wasn't bothered in the slightest. I did get a few dodgy looks from the other guests though!!

I came down to breakfast in my Vistaprint Tshirt saying "The new Mrs *******" printed on the front.

Everyone loved it and had a few photo's taken in it, plus I had a few things to clear the next morning so a new dress wouldn't have been suitable for me.

We are like this, we live an hour and a half from the venue, so we will be driving back home unpacking the car and then getting in to driver to heathrow so doesnt seem worth it!

I thought about it but never got round to it and I'm glad I didn't bother as we just had breakfast and lazed around with family and friends - it would have felt odd to be all dressed up.

No, I personally wouldn't, the wedding is costing enough as it is. In fact, I was so forgetful about the next day that I actually didn't take a change of clothes so had to go home the next day in my wedding dress!

I will be using our wedding as an excuse to buy something new so that hopefully for once I won't have to adhere to OH's rule of "one item in, one item out". I've been know to hide things in the boot of my car for weeks and try to sneak them in without his knowledge.....I don't have a problem, honest! ha ha.

I liked the idea of this but when it came down to it I just didn't get round to it! We stayed in a hotel and only my sister and her best friend saw me the next day - and they came to our room while I was still in my pj's!! I did wear a nice maxi dress the following day that I'd only worn once before. If we were doing another friends and family thing the following day (I admire people who do!!) then I would have liked to have had something new.

I had a T shirt printed with Mrs Jxxxx on it which was a surprise for OH. I knew we would be clearling stuff from the venue and quickly sorting stuff and driving to the airport for an 8 hour flight so I wanted something comfortable.
