The dress, how much is too much???

bridetobehaha, 15 June, 2009 at 12:51 Posted on Planning 0 6

Hi, just wondered how much everyone has spent on their dress, my budget is up to £500 but I have looked at some lovely dresses on the high street, Monsoon and Debenhams as I am not having a fancy wedding and can't justify spending a fortune for one day!!?

My dress was over your budget, but the high street ahs some lovely dresses. Monsoon have some gorgeous dresses at a reasonable price. Littlewoods have some within your budget as well

    Or BHS

If the price makes you feel a bit sick.. then it's probably a bit much ?, you can get a stunner for £500...plus any time now there will be the sales at bridal shops across the country.

The monsoon, Debenhams, BHS dresses around now are lovely

    Hi!

My dress was more pricey than that, but you really can get a huge variety everywhere.

The dresses from the shop I got mine start from £695 - £3500 approx, & alot have regular sales.

I have looked at the debenhams dresses before & they are gorgeous!

    HTHs!

I bought my dress from angelique Lamont in Glasgow. It was £499 for the package-Dress, wrap, veil, tiara and hoop. It was the style of dress I had wanted.

All I can say is shop around, see what bargins you can get. You sometimes get discount for taking the sample dress aswell.

How much is too much? it depends on the person! my dress was more than £500, which i was happy to pay, but when my h2b saw how much it was (accidentally - he shouldn't go snooping on the wedding spreadsheet!), i found myself making all sorts of excuses.... ?

i am sure you'll be able to find a dress within your budget - do your research, and go and ask shops if they stock dresses within your budget. like dianeb said, you might be able to get a sample of a more expensive dress too.

monsoon, debenhams, bhs and also phase eight and m&s (online only) all do bridal dresses.

How much is too much really does differ from person to person so is difficult to answer. For me I would say over £1000 is too much.

My dress was discontinued so I got it for just less than £500 which was over 50% off the full price. There are bargains to be had in the Bridal shops but find out their price range before you go and fall in love with something and make it clear to them that you have a budget.

High Street dresses are gorgeous too - I really like the dresses in Littlewoods Direct and I know BHS, Marks and Spencer and Debenhams all have lovely, reasonably priced dresses.
