The Final Push

RomanticEmeralds, 26 November, 2015 at 17:57 Posted on Planning 0 64

I've found it really difficult to motivate myself to do anything wedding related for the last few weeks. Felt flat as a pancake for several reasons and seemed to get less excited the closer it gets (must stress that this is nothing to do with getting cold feet, can't wait to be married but just lost interest in the actual wedding). With 5 weeks to go everyone is constantly saying things like ' you must be all organised now' and seem surprised when I say we still have lots to do! Surely it's not unreasonable that we haven't done the table plan, order of service, bought bridal party gifts etc!! Anyway we are both off work tomorrow so have a long weekend to get on with stuff. I've just written a to do list for tomorrow and feel better for having a clear plan in place! Hopefully tomorrow will mark the beginning of a final phase of motivation! Fingers crossed. P.S can someone please tell me why we thought getting married just after Christmas was a good idea?!? All I keep thinking about is writing Christmas cards, getting the decorations out, shopping, wrapping etc and then I remember I have a wedding to finalise lol ?

Ditto love. The same here and less than six weeks to go. Plan of action sounds good. I need to give myself a swift kick up the backside also but hoping to get on with things this weekend also. X

Okay. I have a plan of sorts. Before Monday I will

shop for a winter coat oh can wear over his suit for the wedding.

buy a few bits I need that I know I can get off ebay.

get the Christmas presents out of the loft and at least make a start on wrapping seeing as I have to deliver half of them in two weeks.

What's on your list for this weekend? If we don't do it we can give each other grief. X

Jayne, I've done 2 things off my list so far. Been to pay the final balance on the suit hire and the wedding car hire. Next to do is order bridal party gifts and update our guest list spreadsheet then calculate final numbers. Still haven't decided whether to bother with wedding favours. Also need to choose hymns and readings, finalise details with venue and florist.... and probably some other things that I can't think of at the minute. Let me know if you get any of your 'to do' list crossed off.

I'm feeling virtuous. We braved the traffic and the crowds.

We got oh a lovely smart black wool overcoat to wear over his suit as he will be miserable as sin if he is cold at the wedding. Even better reduced from 99 to 56.

Bought a few small Christmas presents for grandson.

Bought Christmas and birthday wrapping paper and tags so I can make a start on that tomorrow. Oh will get everything out of the loft tonight.

Got a few other minor bits sorted too.

I'm on schedule to have this weekend's list of jobs sorted by Monday. Hopefully crossing those off will give me the incentive to make a new list for next weekend too and I will do any last eBay order in the week.

Well done, sounds like you got a bargain with the coat! We spent the afternoon tackling 'house' jobs like doing washing, paying bills etc (life continues as normal even if you have a wedding to plan lol). Did send out a few emails chasing people who haven't RSVPd. have achieved quite a bit but still loads more on this weekend's list. However think we deserve a takeaway tonight for a treat.

Nooo I'm also trying to diet. Sob. Mind you I had a funny turn earlier so scrapped the diet for today. It won't kill me. Yes we are on route to being much further forward my Monday. Maybe this is what we need. Manageable chunks with a deadline and some healthy competition and encouragement to get it done. Well done us. Let's see what we get done tomorrow as to be honest all I wanted to do was climb into bed and pull the duvet over my head!

What's your plan of action today? Mine is to do some washing while partner is off seeing a client. When he comes back I'm sending him in the loft for Xmas presents so I can at least make a start on wrapping. I want a decent size pile of presents wrapped by tonight. Pay for flowers.

Oh and we need to go out and change some clothes I ordered online from tesco for grandson that are too big.

It's the 30th December! Today we hit the local shopping centre. Bought engraved hip flasks for best man and usher. Also got Christmas present for OH dad and following in your footsteps a new coat for OH (he needs a new one and thought if he got it now he could always wear it on the big day if the weather is awful). Came home, had lunch and watched a Christmas film then started sorting out the huge pile of wedding stuff that has been piling up in the corner where the Christmas tree goes. Just having a cuppa before I hang up the washing. How are you getting on?

Ovens warming to cook a chicken which will do today and tomorrow. Returned some clothing bought for grandson and ordered smaller size. Having a cuppa before I empty tumble drier. Bought a reacement for my broken airved, scales to confirm yes I have put a few pound on and it needs to come off grrr. Also bought mini portable speaker as our first dance song needs to play on oh phone. Getting Xmas presents out of loft shortly and will wrap what I have so far later and tomorrow. I can't say the list is getting much smaller yet but at least things are getting done slowly which is better than not getting done at all. Oh and I got a garter lol. ?

    Well done us!

I've just updated our guest spreadsheet, chosen one of our hymns and one of our readings and counted the pinecones we have collected for our centre pieces (need about another 40). Need another hymn and reading then I can check the vicar is happy with our choices and then my mum can add them to our order of service.

Just spent two hours doing a draft table plan! Feel a bit better getting that done as it was one of the bigger jobs on the to do list!

My day didn't go to plan as oh was busy doing stuff like cleaning his motorbike leathers and in my way but gifts are now out of the loft for me to start wrapping tomorrow.

Ordered another clue of bits so not much left now.

Made a final decision on the after wedding finishes music and ordered the CD.

Obviously the two jobs oh needs to do haven't been done get!

Shopping Thursday with FMIL then I might nearly have an empty list!!

So I'm wrapping next clue days how about you? ?

Spoke to my friends in Spain today. Our only guests. She can't get biodegradable confetti so I've ordered some. Little white snowflakes! She also couldn't get disposable handwarmers so I've ordered those.

ive wrapped all the gifts for sons family and my parents that I need to deliver in two weeks so that's the urgent half of my wrapping done.

i have I think 3 Xmas presents to buy plus a lipstick for the wedding day and I'm going shopping with FMIL Thursday.

    pair black trousers for me.

some cards. Local shop tomorrow probably.

oh has STILL to pay for flowers and book airport parking. I will probably do it end of this week!

need to type up and print off one order of service and menu for my friend. Wednesday or Thursday.

spanx if I don't lose enough weight but I lost 2lb last week and have till Saturday before the next fitting. Seeing how that goes before I waste money.

possibly florist wire and tape to add small pine cones to friends buttonholes but again waiting until the flowers arrive as might not want to bother.

i need ski socks, new memory card for camera and lots of spare batteries.

small Christmas cake to go with wine for MIL as I've done bags with cake and wine for both parents to say join us for cake and wine on 6 January at 7pm.

Decant toiletries into small bottles to save space when packing.

    Oh and luggage labels.

not much really is it. And I've been catching up with household jobs. This post has really spurred me on. Cheers!

Hope you're doing ok. What have you got left. X

I was back at work yesterday so didn't get quiet so much done but still managed to update guest list (almost everyone has RSVPed now) and ordered BM gifts. Also sent draft order of service to vicar to check before we print them out. Hymns and readings finally chosen.

Well done on the weight loss, I'm sure you can keep it going. Ideally I'd like to lose 4 or 5 pounds which I think I could managed but I'll probably put it back on at Christmas lol. I'm not worried though, my dress fits now so don't need to lose any. Glad this thread has helped you, it certainly seems to have given me the push needed to get going!

It has helped. Pushing each other has got us doing what's needed. I don't need to lose any/much more but I figure if I lose more I can enjoy Christmas without worrying about gaining weight. So will carry on 'being careful' until Christmas. Although I'm having a night off for a curry tonight!

Your list of to do jobs must have come down considerably now. You seem to have got lots done over the last few days.

and it's now the month of your wedding! Mind you by the time I can say that about me it will be 1st of January and we go on the 3rd. So I can't be lulled into a false sense of security that it's not even the right month yet.

I think my OH is realising how close it's getting now. He's started to do wedding jobs without me nagging him to get on with it. He's had a short list for months and done non of it. Now he's getting it done without me even asking!

Just got home to discover that my BM presents have arrived and FMIL has dropped off the tree slices for our centre pieces :-) also got a letter to say we will get some compensation from the gas board for our lack of a gas supply the other week, it's not loads but better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick. Helped to cheer me up after receiving some bad news earlier today. Just need OH to come home and give me a hug now

Oh no...... Bad news......Here...... Have a great big virtual hug while your waiting for him to get home ((( )))

money coming in is always good.

i love getting things delivered and crossing them off my list. Had a few deliveries today. H2b flip flops for running across to the hot tub in the snow. The bag the glass goes in that he will stamp on to smash. (Mazel tov!). New hankies for him as his were grotty.

A friend made me a lovely card for my two guests so today I've typed up printed off the inner bit. A thank you for joining us on the left and order of service for the day on the right.

Had the approval photo for his buttonhole today. All flowers are being delivered by courier on Friday. Eek.

I'm trying to lose some weight too. I've told me oh to fill the fridge in the garage with Thornton chocolates, Xmas cake, goodies and baileys because I'm going to work my way through the lot when I get back from Lapland.

I've been out today and had a complete day off. Well unless buying ski socks and thermal base layers at aldi this morning counts.

ive also had dinner with MIL. Way too much cottage pie which isn't great for my diet.

i hang my head in shame and promise to try harder tomorrow. Smiley sad

I've also had a day off from wedding planning. Went over to my parents after work for a cuppa and a chat. Got home ten minutes ago and came straight up to bed! Meeting with our coordinator went well last night, sorted loads of the small details out :-)

How are you doing with Christmas as well? I've been blitzing that too. I have to have most of mine ready for delivery by a week tomorrow. I've set myself a target to be done by the middle of December so I can just have the beauty appointments and chill. Well.... That's the theory.

Ooo, your bouquet is beautiful, perfect for your winter wonderland! I still haven't decided if I want a bouquet. Need to call into the florist this weekend to finalise buttonholes and centrepieces. Might discuss ideas with her. Originally wanted a fur muff but so far that hasn't worked out.

News flash! I took a huge leap of faith today an ordered a full length satin and faux fur coat! Eeek
