The Jewellery Quarter- Birmingham

Tracey86, 18 September, 2011 at 19:51 Posted on Planning 0 7

Hi all

Sorry- i'm full of questions at the moment!

I'm looking for recommendations for particular shops in the Jewellery Quarter.

Has anybody had their ER and/or WR from there and would recmommend a particular jeweller?

We are starting to think about rings now, and aswell as both of our wedding rings, we are also looking into the posibility (budget permitting) of getting my "official" engagement ring. I do have a ring that OH proposed with but he didn't have much spare cash at the time so he brought a "cheap" (I have no idea how much) ring to propose with but has always said he wants to replace it with a "proper" ring when we have the cash but as I'd like a palladium wedding ring, I would like to get the new engagement ring too so that it can be palladium too and match the wedding ring. I will wear the original ring (which is white gold and shouldn't technically be worn with the palladium WR) on my right hand and I think it will always mean more to me but I must admit there is part of me that wants a bigger bit of bling! lol

Anyway, any recommendations for good service and reasonable prices appreciated.

Thank you!!

xxx

    Hi Tracy,

I got mine from the Jewllery Quarter - The shop was called dripgold ltd

They were very very helpful, H2B found a couple that he liked and sort of combined both designs and they made exactly what he wanted, and very well priced too

My H2B bought my engagement ring from cirrus diamonds ( diamond dealers direct ) and said they were great, really helpful and not pushy, he selected the setting and then the diamond and they made it all up for him, can't help price wise as no idea how much it cost.

We went on Saturday and bought our wedding rings, cirrus don't have much choice so we had a good wander about and went in loads of shops and got loads of prices and quotes and in the end went with these people .... http://www.platinumjewellers.co.uk/services.html despite the name they make rings in all metals. The bloke in there was really good and the price was really competitive and they will make, design a ring exactly as you want. We both decided on platinum in the end but OH got a price for palladium as well so if you want any more info just shout.

I really enjoyed myself and it was a really good experience, there is just sooooo much choice!

My engagement ring was from Cirrus as well, my O/H got it on his own and said they were really helpful.

We got palladium wedding bands from a shop called Newey's. They were a very good price compared to other shops we looked in and they were really good in there we thouught.

    Have fun!!

I got mine from the JQ but not from one of the shops. It was from lady in one of the workshops there so less overheads meaning more for my money. If you want her number then let me know x

We got our wedding rings from JQ. The shop is called Neweys, quite a few Hitchers have had their rings from there, , ,

Thank you very much everyone! I've sent your recommendations an email asking a few questions and will hopefully be making a trip to the JQ within the next couple of months- yay!

    Thanks again
