The little things...

Skeptical78, 18 March, 2013 at 12:58 Posted on Planning 0 20

Is anyone getting really excited about the little things? I am getting more excited about all the little decorative touches than the dress, shoes, lah-de-dah.

It's things like THIS which are doing it! Seagull sellotape!! Tiny FIMO crabs!! Deckchair Ribbon!! Carnival tickets!! Seagull brooch!! Bucket fascinator!! Parasol!!

? *EXPLODES*

Does anyone have any favourite little details about their day? Is anyone else getting a *teeny* bit obsessed with it (like me)?!

My place cards are flat, not folded, so don't stand up. So I had the idea of securing the placecards to the wine glasses with mini pegs.

I LOVE my pegs. I have banged on so much about my pegs, that my friends are all starting to take the pee -

"I honestly dont' know, Jan, how my wedding day went ahead without the pegs!"

    Whatever. I HEART my pegs.

NO-ONE ELSE UNDERSTANDS! I bought some little plastic anchor charms last week (£2.50 for, like, 40) which I'm threading on to the twine which I'm using to tie the invitation sets together. I spent the WHOLE DAY with a little *smugface* on, much to OH's bemusement!!! ?

How dare you? And it's being modelled so fetchingly by Kat Slater (or so it would seem).

I am giving this to the BMs as an option, along with sailor hats...they also had ice-cream cone and Fab lolly fascinators, so they have quite a choice..... ?

It's a website called 'Folksy'....but we're not buying them, we're MAKING them! Mum and I are going to spend our Easter weekend making crabs. ?

I've already made some Fimo life preservers, so I'm becoming a dab hand! And she's dead crafty; a skill I didn't inherit from her, sadly.

Loving all your little bits - they all look fab and right up my street :-) I'm also obsessed with the 'little things' and have been spending hours making stuff so it's more personal. At the risk of fuelling your love of bits and bobs and all things seaside related, I thought you might like to see the scallop shell ring cushion I've made for our wedding (we met in a dive club), so I had to i had to include something sea related ;-)

In a DIVE club, fair play! That's a nice original setting - I met my other half in a dive of a club, which is not quite as unique. ☹️

    Hi ladies

I got married on the 17th March and I too was obsessed with the little touches that I think make the day more personal (much to my OH's amusement) and I just wanted to say that it really is worth it so you lot carry on regardless (even if your BM's and friends laugh or roll their eyes at you!).

Everyone (especially the girls) noticed all my efforts and their lovely comments on the day and since have made it all so worth all the hard work during the planning stages.

We didnt go OTT just a few things here & there - tables named after our fave bands, a message to our guests on the back of the table signs, toileteries basket in the ladies loo with a message from me, a screen with a slideshow of our fave old pics of us and our guests, etc

Oh and as a side note - all the 'other' little bits that I didnt have time or money to do...dont worry about them cos they will not be missed on the day. It will be perfect Smiley smile

I LOVE LOVE LOVE it all!! I am worrying myself with how OBSESSED I am with all of it too!

My favourite things so far are these vintage style table name holders:

I am using these to cut out fimo and stamp on names for name places:

I found these on Pinterest and not sure I can justify the money...but LOVE them!

Keep all the pictures of the 'Little Things' coming Smiley smile x

We've got a year until the wedding but I'm already enjoying doing little bits of stuff myself. Worryingly I keep coming up with more ideas of things I could do, must make sure I don't get carried away. ?

Loving the pics of all your little details!

Childhood Sweet - you could put a little flat magnet on the backs of your fimo name plates and they'd make a lovely keepsake. Also I think you could DIY the pinterest bags, the plain bags are pretty cheap on ebay, use one of those edging punches across the top and tah dah! The pegs are easy and pretty cheap to get, not sure about the birds, but you can probably find something similar.
