The most ridiculous thing about your wedding ...

SillyWrong, 25 April, 2014 at 14:01 Posted on Planning 0 165

... that you'd usually be too embarrassed to admit but since everyone else is - you might as well go ahead and admit it???

Mine: My ex is making my wedding cake. My other ex is organising my hen. My OH is OK with this this. Because that's how we roll.

GO!

The most ridiculous thing about my wedding is........that I won't actually be married at the end of it!

Hmm mine would have to be the fact both myself and my hubby to be HATE cake, but are spending a lot of money on one just to look pretty, but then again it will be served at the evening buffet so I won't have to face a cake when I get home as I plan on boxing the left over cake up and giving it to Anyone who will take it home!

The most ridiculous thing about my wedding is definitely the fact that nearly 20% of my guests are dogs (22 people, 5 dogs). It's a family only wedding though, and the dogs are all part of the family.

    Pahahaha! Love it.

My sister had 3 ex boyfriends at her wedding years ago. I was a very young silly girl at the time (read *drunk*) and went around saying very unhelpful things to them.... Shameful.

That's just amazing. I want to see photos of them wearing buttonhole roses. Attached to something..... dog collar?

    Love dogs. Hate cats.

Hmmm...good question. Think it would be that i'm keeping all the planning details secret from my sister, it's not for any nice reason, we just don't get on and I don't want her involved it makes me sad we don't have a close relationship, but what can you do.

I wish I had one. No ex's for us in that we have been together since 16 and any GF/BF before then are long forgotten!

The mum of OH's very first girlfriend (as in aged 6) will be there as she is a close friend of FMIL so I guess that's it.

Off to try and think of some better ones now.

The photographer has already been instructed to take lots of pictures of the dogs as none of us have any professional shots of them! Mine (black pug) will be wearing a white shirt collar with a bowtie in the wedding colours. The others (three black labs and a westie) will have fabric flower hair clips in the wedding colours (that I stumbled across in Poundland) attached to their collars. Guests (and the groom I hope!) will have pockets stuffed with dog biscuits to keep them all behaving as beautifully as they'll look!

The location! I love where it is but I do keep thinking that it could have been in an easier place, OH agrees but it means something to us so that's that really.

As an aside I haven't found anything for our dogs to wear yet....yep guess that verges on the ridiculous Smiley smile

We're not having a honeymoon, and are going home the night of the wedding rather than staying in a hotel, because we don't trust anyone to look after our pet rats, and we would miss them too much...

Our "theme" is based on a series of books which include some curious happenings....like incest. Thankfully that wont be playing a part in proceedings.

Aww if I were near you they could have had a sleepover with my girls!

If OH gets his own way the most ridiculous thing about our wedding would be that our 4 rats would be mini bridesmaids, complete with dresses!!

    By the time it happens i'm sure there will be a long list. At the moment the list is as follows;

No-one knows yet. We are planning on having most of it sorted and booked so we don't have to put up with any intefering.

The woman OH went on holiday with shortly after we started dating will hopefully be making our cake.

We will both have a few exes there.

I will be dancing the first dance with a male friend - OH will probably watch whilst propping up the bar.

We will be having a live punk band ...... and a swing soloist.

    I'll update later :-)

I dunno...that only two of the guests know they're invited at this point, I guess. They'll all know in a couple months...but at the moment we're keeping it quiet.

The amount of stuff I have taken on is pretty ridiculous, including:
    - making 17 *different* centrepieces from things I've sourced from charity shops and eBay
    - making the wedding rings, 6 x BM necklaces, 4 x cufflinks, 4 x cravat pins
    - customising all 6 FG/BM dresses
    - designing all the stationery and the cake
    - doing my own flowers

    The list goes on....

...oh yes..I'd forgotten that I've taken a bit too much on too!

    making my own dress

growing the flowers and then making the posies, hair decorations and buttonholes on the morning of the wedding

    making and decorating the cake

making the cakes/biscuits for afternoon tea.

DIYing most of the decorations (i bought hte bunting!)

...and letting the wedding grow from a lazy barn fete type wedding into a mini one day festival so I'm having to learn about PAT testing and PA setup and amplifier power requirements and all manner of other things i have no room in my brain for... Written down the whole thing is ridiculous!! Smiley laugh ...but I wouldn't change a thing!

I REALLY want a penguin parade at my wedding now. Its the one thing I am missing. The most ridiculous thing about my wedding is 1/3 of guests are in the wedding party as I did not want to hurt any feelings!. Makes me feel better someone else is in a similar position, but I have 70 guests lol x
