the new Doctor, in character

Flowery the Grouch, 20 July, 2009 at 09:19 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 11

What do we think, boys and girls?

(from https://www.digitalspy.com/tv/cult/a166168/first-pic-of-the-new-doctor-and-companion/)

I'm liking, I think. I'm quite willing to trust the writers, for a couple of episodes at least ?

I think he looks like a twat.

Wardrobe should be thoroughly ashamed of their lack of originality.

Hmmmmm I wonder if this has been leaked deliberately for a bit of a giggle and he'll actually be wearing something completely different....

First impressions are that he looks a bit like a geography teacher (apologies to any geography teachers who are not fans of tweed jackets) and why is Karen Gillan wearing DT's old Converse?

ETA I've just realised what his outfit reminds me of - Indiana Jones in lecturer mode!

If he lost the dicky bow, and had more mental hair, he'd look just like Mr JK's brother (who lectures in politics).

Totally agree. He's going to need one hell of a charismatic personality to make up for that get up.

If they wanted to go down the "geography teacher" line then they could at least make sure his bottom matches his top half.

See, I'm just glad he isn't all trendy. Am still slightly cross they have gone for such a young'un.

I think she's very pretty though. I have red hair and a round face, and look *nothing* like her. s'not fair.

I'm also not impressed, but mainly because I absolutely loathe bow ties. Generally worn by pompous twats in my opinion.

Looks fine to me. First thought was that bow tie meanst he'd be doing some sort of twat act like Sylvester McCoy/Peter Davison/Colin Baker but he's so unlike that that I can only imagine he'll be doing something else- maybe sort of academic thing.

My little sister once had a thing with Matt Smith but it didn't go anywhere because she thought his chin was too big.

Oh i really like it. I thought Matt Smith was great in the Phillip Pullman thing - I'm really looking forward to it, and I think the costume looks interesting - will be interested to see how his character and the "look" work together.

I quite like it. I've been impressed by Matt Smith in everything I've seen him in, and Steven Moffatt is a bloody brilliant writer IMO so I think we're in safe hands.

I'd forgotten it was Steven Moffatt taking over! That's brought fresh hope to my heart. If there is another string of young women falling in love with the Doctor I shall smash my television. Martha would have been an awesome character if she hadn't a) been criminally underused due to always playin second fiddle to Rose who WASN'T EVEN IN IT and b) moping around the Doctor the whole time. No need!
